| Yorkie wanted/Northern FL Hello, My name is Rose and I am a new member to YorkieTalk.com. I have spent the last week reading through many of the posts here and I've found them extremely educational! I am currently looking for a Yorkie of my own and have contacted several breeders through the AKC website and the YTCA, unfortunately I've only had two replies. I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience with any of the northern FL or southern GA breeders? Even though I know the above mentioned websites are reputable, it is always helpful to talk to someone about their experience with a breeder especially since this will be my first time. Also, I've read that many breeders think its a red flag when someone asks for a price range. I am not bargain shopping (if I was I'd go on the puppy classifieds and buy one for $500) however, I am a PhD student living on a modest stipend and so I would rather not spend $2000-$3000 on a puppy. I understand that this new addition to my family is priceless, however even though I can definitely afford to give a wonderful puppy a new comfortable home, I think that price range might be a bit difficult for me to accomodate. Thank you much for your time, and I will greatly appreciate any feedback, Rose |

| Welcome to YT. Are you just looking for a pet, or a dog to show, breed, etc.? If you're just looking for a pet you shouldn't have to pay that much. Did you put an ad in the section looking to buy a pup? That might help. If you find a breeder you think you like let us know who it is, and we'll try to help you as much as possible.

| Thank you for your reply. I am just looking for a pet, however I've read a lot of posts on here of people who have bought dogs in the $900 range and they've ended up with puppies with health concerns, which is why i'm not sure what to consider acceptable, etc. I will take your advice and look for the section that is specifically dealing with buying pups. I did not find it when skimming the threads, but I will do a more thorough search. Thanks again, Rose |

Rose; at the top of each forum are things called stickies like the one I linked here. Also there is a YT library forum you can review all articles posted there. Good luck in your search
