I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I always suggest people look to the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America for breeder referrals. There are several in Florida you could interview. The YTCA is the mother club for the AKC, and these breeders truly are breeding for the right reasons, and that's to preserve and protect the breed. So even if you don't plan to show or breed, and just want a great pet, I suggest going to the best breeder you can find. Yorkshire Terrier Club of America About The Club

If you're looking for a non-breeding boy, you've got some of the best breeders in Florida & Georgia, they're listed there.

| Before you purchase a little Yorkie, please read these links: Buying a dog? Beware of breeder Teacup Yorkies - Health Issues Why You Shouldn't Buy a Puppy Online! Prisoners of Greed - Puppy Mill List Buying a Yorkie? READ THIS FIRST! Yorkshire Terrier Club of America – Breeder Referrals How much is a Yorkie puppy? Cutting Corners So be very careful. Do lots of research. Stay far away from pet stores and on-line breeders at all costs. Puppy mill operators have learned to talk the talk of good breeders. Their web sites are usually wonderful, alluring, and have positive feedback from supposed customers. Make sure that you ALWAYS are able to go to the breeder's home and see the environment that your furbaby has been raised in. It's worth the extra effort, time, and money. Remember that anyone may join YorkieTalk.......back-yard-breeders, unethical breeders, and puppy mill owners. Best wishes in your search. ~Joanne~

| Excellent advice from YT members. Research is key. You must go and see the puppies, the parents and how the puppies are raised. Very important is the breeders guarantee on the puppy. |

| On the YTCA breeder page, one of those listed is very nice, but only does rescue. I spoke to her before getting my Beamer, and she recommended another lady that was on the list. I called and the lady had a small female - she was one that she had been keeping, but she wanted to "cull her stock down". We went over to see her. I only saw the one Yorkie. I asked how many Yorkie's she had, and she just said "too many" The price was cheap for the one Yorkie we saw ($500). We arranged for her to visit us with the Yorkie so we could see how she got on with Lil Bit. She brought her over, and the little sweetie was timid. Breeder was telling us she does not allow her Yorkies to go outside in the yard and they use the pee pads. We have a doggie door and Lil Bit likes to go outside. Breeder said that she was taking little one to be spayed and then we could have her. She was a tiny - compared to Lil Bit, only weighed about 3lbs. I called the day she was spayed to see how she was doing. She was doing fine, and breeder was going to bring her over in a couple of days. Well, the day before we were supposed to get her, breeder called, said she changed her mind, she just couldn't let the little one go. I understood, as she was such a precious little babe. A couple of weeks later I looked for a breeder who had the "line" I wanted - not for breeding, but because I wanted a good healthy dog with a good pedigree. I found a breeder in Michigan, who didn't have any puppies, but she had Beamer who was almost a year old. Of course he was a lot more expensive than the little female we almost got, but that didn't matter. We arranged to have him flown down to us, and we have been "entertained" by him ever since. I often wonder how many Yorkies the other lady had.

Her vagueness to you was nothing against you. But, more than likely was reluctant to tell you, because Animal Rights Activist are at times attempting to gain access to a breeders home. If one is an exhibitor/breeder that has a great line of winning Champions, it can't be done with 2 or 3 dogs. To produce a great line, a minimum of 5 breeding girls is necessary. But, then it is dependent on what one's goals are.

She was a very nice lady, and her home was spotless. I believe she takes good care of her dogs. And she obviously loved the little female, as she decided at the last minute that she couldn't part with her. (I think the puppy was about 3 years old - I know, not really a puppy, but they are all puppies to me - just like I'm always 21

I'm always vague until I've established a relationship with a "client" not customer. Not because I have too many breeding dogs. But, because of Animal Rights Activists and those that are of unscrupulous personalities. There are those that are known to just wait to either rob a house or lay in wait to enter a home to take dogs. One can't be too careful. It appears you have problem with me or YTCA in general.
