| Welcome to YorkieTalk! How exciting to be searching for a new addition to your family. Please forgive my noseyness, but, are you sure you want a yorkie? You ask for a small breed dog, and there is nothing wrong with that (I have one and love it!) but every breed has different traits and every individual dog has a different personality. Please, before taking the plunge research the breed. Yorkies are known to be stubborn and not everyone likes that. When searching for a pup, remember you're buying your breeder first. You want someone that will be there for you for the next 15 years! Here are some great threads that will help you get started on the right track. Also, check the YTCA website, they have a breeder referral page. If size is of great importance, have you considered adopting an adult? You know exactly what you're getting into with an adult. Check out YTNR or Yorkie Haven, both are yorkie rescues. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...uch-thing.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ead-first.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ease-read.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ead-first.html

| "Yorkies are known to be stubborn" That is an understatement. I did lots of research before deciding on a Yorkie and, although I knew they are stubborn, that does not even describe how stubborn they can be. My DH keeps telling me that my Buddy is dumb - I keep telling him he's not dumb, he's just stubborn and he knows exactly what he is doing. Stubborn or not there is nothing like a Yorkie to love! I'm sold on the breed. And it does help that I got him from an excellent breeder! |
