| Tara, while it may be fine for a large breed puppy to go home at eight weeks, toy breeds are very different. Here is a great explanation from Foxstone Maltese that applies to all toy breeds, not just Maltese: Why do Maltese puppies need to be 12 weeks old before going to a new home?? Of course, it goes without saying that reputable breeders always follow the YTCA's rules. |

I bought Pennie the day she turned 8 weeks and she was only 1.7 pounds, this is just to little to be going anywhere. I will tell you that I will NEVER buy another yorkie from any breeder who allows their pups to leave before 12 weeks! We ended up an extremely sick puppy I had to force feed for 4 weeks. I spent almost $1,000.00 in vet visits and tests. Her hair fell out. She had hypoglycemia attacks a couple of times a day. I cannot believe she made it. The breeder should have kept those pups longer, she would have caught the fact they had giardia, skin mites, and another bacterial infection. Also, the longer you wait with these little ones the hypoglycemia chances go waaay down, by 14 weeks they will have grown out of it altogether . Vets do not know everything, I have 4 vets at my clinic and one knows much more about neonatal then the others. Do you know why? It's called experience Plain and simple..The vet went to school yeah, doesn't make him/her an expert. And most vets will go to their trusted breeder clients when they get stumped because most breeders know more because they are hands on, 24/7

| I would love to have her as well but I wont have any extra money for a couple of months. Bad timing for me. I am sure you will find a home for her pretty easily. |

| Sarah, have you contacted Maggie's breeder? Most responsible breeders have a clause in their contract requiring buyers to give them the chance to take the dog back if for some reason they can't keep it. At the very least, she may want to screen any potential buyers you get before letting Maggie go to a new home. |

| She is such a cutie. I wish I could take her but I can't swing the money right now. She was born on my birthday too. I hope you find a home for her.

Same with the breeder I bought Zach from. Any reason ANY time I could no longer keep him to contact her first and they would take him back. It's in the contract. I just don't see how a week or two is enough time to let your dogs adjust. No offense.
