| ![]() It's ok. I will have a mentor when I finally decide to breed. I'm working on a mentor relationship right now. But when I do decide to breed. The health will be the foremost important thing for me. I will be spending as much as needed to run tests on my potential breeders to find any detectable health issues. But to have an increased chance of healthy breeders I'm doing my research now and am looking out for who I will get my breeding pups from. |

Health testing one you might particularly purchase won't tell you a lot. Why? Because there are genetic issues that a dog or bitch can be a carrier meaning that with a certain mating, a genetic issue can occur in the pups. The dog or bitch at this time until a genetic marker is discovered, will test out fine and you think you are safe. You may not be as the sire and dam are not exhibiting anything but have the potential to have the genes that with the right combination could throw a problem pup or litter. Whatever you do, when you do find the right breeder and eventually they sell you something, buy one only and start there to learn about the breed and show it with your mentors help. Buying a few dogs from here and there to breed is a big mistake as you won't really know how they will 'click' in a breeding. I bought my first bitch about 15 years ago. Unfortunately she didn't really turn out to be show quality but wasn't that bad. I won the trust of a good show breeder mento and used her studs over time and steadily improved what I had. I never purchased another Yorkie until 2005. ANd then i knew what line I wanted and what type I was looking for and bought from long time established show breeder.

Even better, go to the YTCA website at Yorkshire Terrier Club of America and there is a tab for their specialties around the US and attend one of those Specialties. You will get to see a lot of Yorkies and a lot of breeders that way.

| ![]() Who is the breeder of this little one? I think it is important for a potential buyer to know where their prospective pet is coming from. When buying from a third party, it is even more important to find out where and how the little one came into the world.

| ![]() Her name is Shelley. She lives in Florida. Thats as much as I was able to get out of my little sister (gift giver). My little sister is pretty upset I'm rehoming him. I am rethinking it too. I've only gotten one person from YT interested. And the other ad I listed is bringing in the most sketch people, and I do not feel comfortable with him going to them. I've had someone yell at me for his outrageous price, how aweful a person I was for selling him just to getmoney, and I should be ashamed of myself for rehoming him just because I didn't like him. Oh these people could NOT be more wrong. They don't understand the situation and I don't feel the need to explain myself to these people. So therefore I'm kind of glad that is as much info that I have right now about the breeder, I would hate for her have to deal with that type of bull. Anyways I'm really thinking about keeping him. How can I trust anyone with a pup so small? |

| ![]() I'm still in search of his perfect home. I've had three almost to be's but things didn't work out. He is almost 6 months and finally gained some weight. He is now a whole whopping 3 lbs. That is just after eating and drinking. He has such a compact body. His length is still the same and he is about 1/2 inch taller! Go baby go! He has followed to the ounce the puppy growth chart will be charted at 3.5lbs. Here are some updated pictures. His coat is growing in nicely. I prefer someone who lives close. I'm not a breeder (nor his breeder) but I'd be willing to take him back if his new family ever has any issues (either with him or other pets or financially ANYTHING). PS the biewer in the photo is NOT for sale. I was just trying to show that he is the size of a build a bear's head (the head isn't even fully stuffed either) |
