My Story

I know everybody has a story... including me, but I hope that there is that one person out there who understands what I have gone through and the desire I have to owe a yorkie.

About 2 years ago I got a yorkie puppy from a breeder for my birthday. A month later I had to put him down due to genetic/health problems. This was devestating for me and my mom who had grown really attached to this puppy. It took me a while to get over this loss. About a month ago I found this little yorkie puppy. I searched for her owner and at first there was not success. I immediatly grew attached to her, although I tried not to, and thought I would end up keeping her (especially since she was extremely under weight and I was having a hard time getting her to eat). Well in the end a friend saw a flyer and I gave her back. Since then I knew I was ready for another yorkie however I don't have a lot of money to pay for one because to set one up at the vet is $85 plus $300 pet deposit.

I am hoping God will lead me to the right per, or will lead the right person to me who is will to honestly give their puppy a good home. A person who can sacrifice the money and truely give someone hope. I am not asking for a free puppy just someone willing to work with me.

I am being completely honest that's all I can do. I know there are sob stories out their but I hope you fully understand the truth in mine. I am not trying to get over on anybody just trying to offer a yorkie a loving home and make my own dream come true.

You might want to try United Yorkie Rescue.. there is usually just a small fee for rehoming. Also Craigslist has dogs that are needing re-homing and usually only have a small fee.

If you got a dog 2 years ago and a month later had to have him put down, then, you should have been entitled to a refund from the breeder

I was refunded but that is not a replacement and I wasn't going to get another dog from them.

I am going to assume that if this happened 2 years ago, the money may have been spent by now. The op was not ready at that time to get another puppy. This is what I am understanding from what has been posted.

I am sorry if the story is unclear but that is correct. That was about two years ago. I had been wanting a yorkie for so long I was excited when I found this one. I bought the puppy at a discounted rate because it was a male and their last remaining puppy. Granted that probably wasn't the best decision but at the time I wasn't as educated now and since they were a breeder of puppies I didn't think there would be a problem. So once I had to put my puppy down I devastated and felt guilty because my mom had also fallen in love with him (she is not that much of animal person but she really loved him, yorkies can do that to you ) so I didn't want a puppy for a while after. What I really want from this story is that their are those out there with the love for this breed who can't afford the 1000 price. When the price is only that high because of demand. I understand the game I am simply letting all know that if you have a yorkie that you can't place and money is not your sole reason for selling, I have a loving home to offer were the puppy will get the care it needs with regular grooming, vet visits, teeth cleaned (cause I know that's important for this breed and is often overlooked) and spoiled. I am not trying to whine just merely stating. If I don't ask how can I ever receive right? Again, I thank all. God bless you all.

I already know about the rescues and honestly they are just as much as purchasing from a breeder plus I have had some very bad experiences dealing with people at rescues (they are extremely rude mostly). So I thank who suggest but I check petfinder regularly. Plus with my past experience I just want to be sure I don't go through the same ordeal again.

No I do not live at home with my parents. I am married.
I am a recent graduate however, I am taking classes at the moment and thinking about continuing on to a Master's degree
Yes I do have an income. My husband is a police officer and I have a part-time job as well since I am still in school right now.

Hi. I'm a volunteer with a local rescue. I'm also mom to five rescues. My oldest is Bella who is 5 yrs. old and my younges and newest and last (LOL) is Beans who is 7 months old. There are good and bad with everything. Good breeders and bad breeders and good rescues and bad rescues. Please don't count out rescue. All five of my babies are rescues. Lilly who is 17 months came through the rescue I volunteer with and her adoption fee was only $400 which included her spay, shots, heart worm, flea and tick and all her medical. She's very healthy. Beans was a private adoption/rescue. I paid $300 for him and then another $90 for neuter him. He is very healthy too (Thank God). However, like you I lost my baby. She was only 17 months old. The only one bought and not rescued. Breeder seemed fine. Nothing stood out really but the signs were there and even someone experienced like myself or at least should have been experienced missed the signs. Like you I had to put my baby down. We actually lost two in a year. Our 10 year old Newman to cancer and our 17 month old Jersey who my boys and husband brought home for Mother's Day for me to help my grieving. It's not about where whether your Yorkie comes from a rescue or a breeder. It's about reputation. PLEASE consider keeping your eye on rescue. There are so many to no fault of their own end up without homes. Yes, some rescues can be rude but you have to also understand the amount of idiots they have to deal with on a regular basis. No excuse but after awhile in order to survive some of what these fosters / rescues see you have to be hard but that doesn't mean they don't care. Any reputable rescue will ALWAYS have the best interest of the dog in mind and will ALWAYS be upfront about any health issue. If I can help in any way with helping you locate one please let me know. I volunteer for a rescue and for an adult dog over 6 months they charge $295. For a puppy it's 300 something. I also rescued one of my boys and got him for free and he was only shy of a couple vaccines and was neutered. When you rescue from a reputable rescue expense covers all vaccines and spay/neuter.
