| Hoping to find a little girl in Iowa Hi all, I'm new to YT but have enjoyed looking through the many threads that are posted. I knew that I wanted a yorkie, maltese, or morkie puppy (i know mixed breeds are a touchy topic) but after reading the great info out here, I've decided to hunt just for a yorkie. I wouldn't be able to get a girl until I have more time for her being a full time student with a very demanding class schedule that wouldn't allow me to take proper care of a puppy (about 6 or 7 hours away from my apartment a day). Next January is when I'm hoping to get one. I was just wondering if anyone knew of reputable breeders in Iowa, or northern Illinois, that weren't too pricey. Thanks, Kayla |

| Hi! Welcome to YT!! Always glad to have more Iowans here! My 2 yorkies came from out of state, but maybe someone else can help you with Iowa breeders. There is an Iowa breeder right now that is looking for a new home for an older yorkie - maybe that would be a possibility for you right now, as an adult wouldn't need the same time in training as a puppy. Here's the link to her thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...highlight=iowa She's a real cutie. Also, just so you know - Suzy (another member here on YT) and I will soon be planning our 2nd Central Iowa Yorkie Meetup. We're planning to do something in Feb. inside somewhere. We had a meetup in October at Gray's Lake & had 14 yorkies show up with owners ranging from their 20s to their 80s - all we did was post fliers, post on YT & had an announcement in the paper. We even had a couple stop by that was interested in getting a yorkie. Let us know if you would want to know about a meetup. Also, right before Christmas, I met an ISU vet student at the airport that has a yorkie.

| Thanks for the info, I took at look at her, and she's cute, but I'm really searching for a puppy. That's great to hear that you guys have "yorkie meets". It's a cute idea! I know a ISU vet student who graduates this spring, maybe I'll ask him to ask around. How far did you have go to get your pups? I'm willing to drive up to like 4 hours from Ames, Moline, or Chicago (I have family in all areas).

| well, actually I adopted the yorkies from someone else when they were almost 1 1/2 yrs - & she had them shipped here one from Texas & one from somewhere else in the south. Check the YT breeders - not sure if there is someone in Illinois or not. But the gal who has the little female available is a breeder here in Iowa & I think she may have a litter right now or soon. Suzy has bought from her & perhaps others here that could serve as a reference. Be careful where you buy - there is a lot of good info on YT about buying from a good breeder. Since you have a lot of time before you buy, you can really take this time to educate yourself.

| Hi Kayla, I am located in central Iowa and occasionly have puppies. Right now I have 3 little girls that will be ready to go in just a week or two. Since I only breed my dogs every other heat, I should have a litter next year around this same time, also. I live near Ames and you would certainly be welcome to stop by sometime to see my dogs. My dogs are AKC registered. I am also the one with the dog that needs to be rehomed, I think I might have found one, so wish me luck with that. She would be perfect for this couple whom are retired |

| Hi again, I'm not sure I can pm pics, seems like I tried before and couldn't. So here, they are at 8 weeks old. Also, I am just a few miles from Ames, pm when you are interested in coming out and I will send my phone number and you can call for directions. I live on gravel and the roads are still icy so might want to wait on that Martha |

I am asking $750 each for them, as far as how big they will get, the parents are 4lbs and 8lbs. with mom being the larger. According to the weight chart it puts one at around 5 lbs. and the other two at around 6 lbs., but I don't make any promises on weight, lol. | |
