Welcome to YT. Best wishes on your search. |

I just want to see the new people being given a chance here that is all... I have lots of posts, yet I am still not sure... Rules should be blunt, but maybe suggesting to someone how things work and where to go would be a kinder way that is all...then if they continue to ignore the rules, or of some nice kind hearted people, by all means they need to be TOLD... I do not need the last say, and I will not post again.... Critisim is not for having faults, but for having faults that differ from our own. That is kinda my moto in life...I learned that working for a teen town at a military base many years ago..it was put for the teens,... But you have to admit, that it is far easier for a newbie to get hurt feelings, then logically thinking, like the longtime members are trying to help. |
I was a newbie too not long ago, but I read the rules before I posted, and I also took into account advice that suited me, and advice that did not. If you ask for opinions/suggestions than you should expect to get them. And thats why a lot of people get hurt here. No one's mean, just zealous and passionate about the breed we love! |

And before it gets twisted and turned around, I am NOT saying that is the case with this OP, just a general statement. It's kind of hard to give people the benefit of the doubt anymore. |

I hope all this nonsence that that has been posted does not scare the OP away. It would be a shame if this dog lost a possible home. Why must some things be taken so seriously? Relax!~ |
LilLissa. I'm a jersey girl too. Originally from Point Pleasant:) I now live in Lacey. Your best bet is to search Petfinder.com and your local newspaper (Asbury Park Press). You'll find more around February, as this is when those that got pups for Christmas decide they are too much to handle and then either dump them off at the pound, rescue or in the paper. In so far as $700 for a rescue - I have not seen that. I'm very involved with rescue. On average the donation for a rescue is about $400 BUT don't forget that includes the vetting / shots and the spay or nueter done. It's a real bargain. My Lilly who is now just about six or seven months came from rescue. Grant you she was a rare find. We got her at 13 weeks old but they are out there. For you, since you are a student and have some medical issues as well you may want to consider a young adult already trained. Maybe a two - four year old that needs a home. Yorkies are tough to train and with someone on a student schedule / homework/ classes etc. It really is easier with a little older. Best of luck to you. Elaine |
attention everyone I was not saying that she came her begging for a yorkie ,I only came to bama's defense about her posting the rules...Please don't put words in MY mouth! |
No I did not I was merely posting what bama could have been pointing out in the rules!!!! Quote:

I don't think Bama meant any harm..however, when the 1st thing a newbie sees "in bold or colored font", it may come off as "Listen here" you. Almost like all caps is meant to express "yelling". Hopefully, she did not take it as such. She did mention she is very willing and understands that she may have to look at rescues becasue of her financial situation and sounds like she wants to go that route. Maybe if the reply was more like, here are your options....or you can find rescues under such and such thread...and then politiely suggest to her that being new, she may want to read over some of the rules, etc. etc. would make it a little more "warm" and welcoming. Again..not going against anyone...just my 2cents as I don't post much on these types of things..;) |

I suggest Petfinder.com, too. You can type in the breed your interested in and what area you live in. They provide names of local shelters and pictures of available babies.....purebred and mixed. Most are in foster care and their foster parents are usually very happy to discuss their personalities and behavior and terms for adoption. I think it's a great idea. I'm on a limited income and if I'm ever in need of another dog, that's the route I'm going!!!! Good Luck in finding a companion! |
Have you tried Craigslist? Every once in a while there is a posting for a yorkie, but more than half the time they are scams so be careful. Even though you don't have alot to spend to purchase one, you also have to consider the long term cost of caring for a yorkie. It can get quite expensive at times. |

Hi Lissa, I'm from Jersey too. I got my yorkie from a breeder in PA and believe me it was not cheap. Most breeders in this area aren't cheap so your right to be looking in a rescue or a rehoming situation if you are on a tighter budget. I check petfinder.com alot just to see what's out there and yorkies do end up in shelters sometimes. Also there are rescues aren't here like United yorkie rescue and rescue me yorkie that might be able to help you out. And lastly we have this forum here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=39 where people post threads about yorkies that they find at shelters or craigslist that need homes or they are rehoming their own yorkie. Good luck on their search and i hope you weren't scared away. |

Deb i do know rules are the rules but this lady doesnt seem to be begging lol and if she was im sure admin would have closed this thread already. she simply said she was looking for a rescue. And if anyone had one to let her know and she would make a great owner. She didnt come on here begging from breeders lol. IM sorry but some stuff is just taken too seriously. |

Again... Another slightly heated post. Its always the same thing... Members feeling that other's were to blunt or direct when posting, but.... ISNT THAT WHAT A PUBLIC FORUM IS? Your gonna get the good and the bad, right? We have members from around the world here... the way you talk on the east coast is totally different from me on the west coast - so we need to be a little more open minded and not so quick to get offensive. Not to mention, most of us are women and we can tend to have a lot more emotion.... so, I just want to say "relax.... its just the internet - what can you do" :) |
hope http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...66#post1583266 I found this link...unless I missed this, I have not seen this young girl back on here..in case you are keeping up ..here is the thread for hope...maybe something would work on this one...pooh's mum |
I've read through all of this, and was in the middle of reading a thread by hha, and it was suddenly cut off! what is going on? |
I Did I did read where you said thanks for posting the rules then after that you quoted me and interpeted it to say I said OP was breaking the rules, which I never said or implied that! Just want to make that clear.;) Quote:

Good luck finding a sweet baby!! I'd think a rescue sounds more like what you are looking for but who knows? I found Beau for quite the deal if you ask me! :p |
I found Sugar through petfinder.com. She was 3 yrs old & fully trained. She's the best little doggy I could ever hope to have. Good luck! |
