If you notice... I tried to preemptively point out to everyone she was not begging. The same people always pop that rule out and make people feel bad whether or not they are actually begging. I knew it was only a matter of seconds before just that post was posted in response. I hope I helped her before she got offended... or warned her...lol. I thought of the pup you thought of too... but I believe it is in California. I was just typing that we needed a section for this type of thing when you posted. Glad I am not the only one who feels post like that are inappropriate in certain circumstances!

She wasn't begging or whining... just looking for sellers to pm.... and she said she was willing to rescue.... why does no one see that? When you are new here you don't know who to pm to find a puppy... but if you post a simple email.... several people may know of rescue situations where you could help!

meglaulanmar 12-05-2007 07:18 AM

I've been here a while

See... I have been here a while and never noticed the rescue section bama mentioned. It is a big site... we can't read all the rules before posting... there are a lot of them. But we could say things in a nicer way... say like pming them w/ the rules instead of publically humiliating them... or by just saying... "please see rules here"

It rubs people the wrong way because of the way it is done!

I did see that! I pointed it out to her in the same post. In addition, rescue was mentioned in the portion of the rules I posted! So actually, I pointed it out twice. :p

Asking for dogs--be they full grown or otherwise--is not allowed...any which way you want to interpret that. The rules were made a while back to address a rampant problem that lots of YT members were complaining about. Rest assured, ALL of the rules that ADMIN has put into place were to fix problems that were occurring the the majority of the YT members were complaining about.

Shadow--thank you for getting my point!

Basically everything everyone else has already said. Not to mention the fact that I DID go on to point out the rescue section and make some other suggestions....did you catch that part?

I am sorry for overreacting, BUT, I too did not want to pay huge dollars for yorkies many many years ago..so I took in rescues and had to pay for them to be altered...So I guess I was thinking how I felt, I had the money to look after them vet wise, had tons of love, and I ended up with three...they lived their life to the fullest, even the one that had to be on nerve pills every day for 5 years...It is so hard being knew here...I gave them good homes, but I got mine from a breeder as she always knew of someone looking for a yorkie that would give a great home to a yorkie that was otherwise not wanted, and did not make it to a larger faciity. I loved those yorkies ever bit as much as I do the one's I have now that I have paid large for....pooh's mum

If I had PM'd her the info, then YOU still wouldn't know about the rescue section that I pointed out...so apparently not doing everything by PM benefits more than just the person it is being directed to.

everyone needs to know the rules but this lady didnt say anywhere that she couldnt pay 500 dollars so technically she didnt break the rule shadow posted she just said she couldnt pay around 700. but just wanted to say that! yall know i love all of yall!

You are right...neither Shadow or myself indicated that she did.:) Thanks for pointing that out...it seems to have been implied...

We can see that..but some do not remember when they first came to Yt, take a look at how many times I have posted, I am not a young person neither...I am retired...but I start one and then do not feel like being slammed, I read it and read it, is this right is that right, am I saying it right...there is also a nice way of telling some one about the rules without it sounding so blunt and hurtful, yes that might be the way it is posted in the rules..but if it was not for newcomers, this would not be still going all the time..
That is all I am saying, and maybe it needs to be revamped, or maybe there can be something that allows a brand new person not knowing everything, to get feel welcome first and yet told where to go to look for something..without the harshness..for all to read. I am only saying we all love our yorkies, wether it is to show, breed, or just to love them, so anyone coming on here and just does it wrong, should be given a chance before being pounced on...
I think maybe something should change here...saying something with a huge heart is so different...
Maybe we need a section for the brand new people to just be themselves and not feel as I am sure this girl does at this moment..we are not all smart about everything when we first try something new...

The rules also state this....
Please do not post looking for Yorkies below $500. If your budget for a Yorkie does not allow for $500 or more, you may want to look into Yorkie rescues or adoptions of older Yorkies, as they may be better suited to your price range. Feel free to PM sellers with an offer, but the public forum is not a place to beg or whine for a Yorkie.

here she did lol! which the OP also stated she knows she couldnt get one from a breeder and would like to rescue.

Thanks, I too feel as you do, I think the newbies on here should be given a better chance..how many does this happen to, and they never come back on here.. they may be the greatest people in the world...I realize there could be many that beg if that is the word...but having little money to purchase a yorkie, does not mean you would not be a good parent..nor would you neglect needles and vet needs...I hope this girl gets a yorkie...
I like this place, but for sure I do have better things to do in my life but to look through threads to see what I can do to belittle someone in front of ever so many people...the ones that know this breeder may feel different,. but for those of us that are quite new here, that do not know everyone, can and do take some things as being blunt..hurtful

Where in that is she being accused of breaking any rules? She posted the part referring to the rescue section for those who can't afford alot.... Exactly what I did.

FYI, from the 'rules' section:
We do not allow begging for free puppies or puppies at extreme reduced costs. Yorkies are generally from $500 on up, with most being in the $1000 to $1500 range. Please do not post looking for Yorkies below $500. If your budget for a Yorkie does not allow for $500 or more, you may want to look into Yorkie rescues or adoptions of older Yorkies, as they may be better suited to your price range. There is some good advice in that. You may want to check in the rescue section here on YT--you may be able to find a Yorkie that is closer to the price you are looking for. Or you may be able to find a breeder who is trying to replace a dog that they have retired from their breeding program.
From what you describe, your funds seem limited and it seems that your time will be also once you start school. Why take on something as big a financial responsibility as a dog at this point? Why not wait until you are back on your feet and use the time between to conduct your search? That way you can take the time to find the dog you really want and will have the funds to pay for it and and other costs that come with it.:)

Well said BamaFan and I totally agree with you.

I'm not sure why it has to still be an issue with the OP not even here, why do ppl have to take things further and read between the lines?? Rules are rules period!!!

Sorry if what I (or the rules Admin typed)...came accross as blunt and hurtful. I certainly didn't intend to 'belittle' anyone. I can't do anything about the way people choose to interpret something. I posted something from the rules that gave a good explanation and referred to the breeder section in addition to making some other suggestions as well. If it came accross as something else to some people...not much I can do about that. Maybe some of us long time members should take more notice of what it's like to be new to the site (like pointing out things they might have missed or unknown sections?) and some of those who are new should realize that us long time members aren't out to get them.:p Kind of works both ways, I guess...
