I love the pictures! They are really nice! Congratulations! Quote:
Lorraine looks so professional and it shows with her dog too. I can see it in the photo! With all her years of expererience she knows the judges and the way their format/proceedures are. It is her confidence that shows. Someday I hope I can look as good as her and not like the duck out of water I do now. LOL :D My husband showed up at my handling classes after his work today. He actually practiced too. I could see he was trying and he was doing pretty good by the end of class. I love him so much for this. :D And Easy did so good tonight. What a difference of maturing does! She is now 22-24 months. T. |
Kimberly - I know what you mean about taking in three dogs at one show. I did this at the last show and how confusing, especially when they win their class and you have to go back in for winners. I will never do this again! It messed up getting a Reserve. Ugh!!! I learned - I will always take in the oldest!! I will always take in the oldest!! I think I have said this to myslef half a million times now. I have two entered in the next show and my daughter (25 years old) will be taking in one (the youngest). She is planning to come over this weekend and practice, especially table practice. T. |
Where do you find out about the shows in Oklahoma? |

Nope, I don't mean a courtsey turn, courtsey turns are done in front of the judge. Bring your dog down on the floor, arrange the coat, walk to your left a couple of steps, then bring the dog around and walk back toward the diagnal.....it gives him a lil more time to compose their selves, shake. |

Go to Onofrio.com There's one this weekend in Grove. |

I have so fallen in love with a beautiful 16-week old female puppy, I just adopted today. I am naming her SweetPea. Depending on the weather, SweetPea will be arriving here in Northern California on April26 from Louisiana, and I am soooo excited to finally meet her! I'd like to someday be showing her. How does one get started? How early can they start? Just the lingo alone is very intimidating. |
Congratulations on your new puppy!! I am sure you will have many happy years with her. |
Newbie Mom to SweetPea WOW :mademyday, thanks for responding to my very first post here at YT (is that the acronym for Yorkietalk?). It sure made me feel welcome because I was a bit hesitant to post as it felt like intruding in the middle of all your conversations, and especially because I am such a newbie. Yeah, as soon as I get her, I shall take a photo of her and post it, like you all have, that is assuming that I figure out how to do that. Also, I was thinking of throwing her a party! But I know that that might be too much for her. I am taking a whole week off from work just so that I can devote the time and attention that she deserves. Her parents are Brynstar's CH Calvin Klein, and Brynstar's Annika whose father is CH Gambler. I can't wait to meet her!:animal36 |
So are you planning on showing your girl? Is your breeder going to help you get started? This should be a lot of fun for you. |
2 Attachment(s) Yes, I certainly want to do that! I live in Northern California, and perhaps someone closer will be able to help me. I do not know where to start. Here are the pictures I received yesterday of SweetPea. She is 16 weeks old exactly: |
Where in California do you live? I went to school in Novato and lived in several places in the Bay area. Is your puppy being sold to you as a show prospect? You can check on the internet for handling classes in your area, you will need a padded show lead for training her. Maybe there is a breed club that can help you. |
May 24..... is the Specialty Show in Pomona California, and I was wondering is any of YT members are going to be there. I would love to come up and say Hi! :D |
Debbie, Small world... I currently live in Vallejo and Sacramento, and work in Davis. I also lived in San Francisco for 10 years. Wow! I go to Novato at least twice a year. Do you know where the old Trumbull Mansion is? But I diverse. My contract is for "Breeding and Show Prospect." I will check the internet for handling classes in the area as you suggested. What is a padded show lead? I will also research for Yorkshire Terrier clubs in the Bay Area. Thanks for pointing me to the right direction. I appreciate your help!:) |
Where does one find the schedules of shows for Northern California? Thanks for the information.:) |
Go to infodog.com and click on show calender and you will find all of the shows and where they are located and the dates. |
Thank you again. I appreciate your help! You are an angel for yorkie newbie parents.:) |
