| Dog Shows For those that show, can you describe how you got started and the cost involved. I don't plan to get into showing but I do find it interesting. I also wonder why I don't hear about any shows in Alabama! Would love to learn more about it. |

| You can find the shows in Alabama by going to the AKC website. All the listings are there. Depends on if you do confirmation classes (recommend), if you are going to handle yourself or hire a handler, entry fees, travel expenses....ect. Hope this helps.

| Start with conformation classes... this will teach you and your little one how to enter the ring...Also this is where you will find out whether your little one has what it takes. And whether or not it meets the breed standard for show quality..

| check with your local toy breed clubs also some of your doggie day care facilities to find local conformation classes. as far as where the show are and when either AKC or your superintendents website http://www.jbradshaw.com/ - or - http://www.onofrio.com/ typical pricing for three day show entry fees are just under $100 this doesnt include if you hire a handler to show your dog beginning price is about $50.00 per day, add any travel expense (gas or airline), lodging, daily grooming and feed for you dog. hope this helps

| To my understanding there isn't too many dog training places or stuff around where you live. If you are interested in something like that you might have to go to or around Birmingham. I know that "Manners In Motion" in Pelham, AL have had conformation class once. I don't know if they offer it anymore. www.mannersinmotion.com. I definitely know that Birmingham Obedience Training Club in Robuck, AL still offers it. www.birminghamobedience.org Definitely check out www.AKC.org for conformation showing around your area. It also list AKC agility and obedience event around the area. |
