| Puppy coat I am new to Yorkitalk. My name is Melinda. I purchased my Yorkie from a person I have now learned from reading other threads about him, is a questionable breeder. Can anybody tell me if my puppy's coat is typical of a purebred Yorkie? That is what I paid for and sadly I believe I have been taken. Any info would be appreciated. Rocky is 12 weeks old. When I picked him up I asked the breeder, Jason, about his coat as it didn't look right. He said it was just his new coat coming in. The photo of the Yorkie I bought is not the same dog. My dog's ears do not stand up and they were in the photo. Sigh. Don't know what to do now. It would break my heart to return him but I do not think I got what I paid for. Any advice would be appreciated. |

| Welcome to YT, this looks like a sleepy pure bred yorkie to me. A lot of puppies ears do not stand up. Shave the hair off this babies ears, hair is weight, the less weight on the ears will help them stand up, teething also may prevent the ears to be straight. Then there is always taping the ears. I would shave the hair off and see how that works for him. Puppies have scruffy hair until it starts to grow. I believe you have a pure bred yorkie baby, and he sure is a little cutie.

| What an adorable baby, I say you got what you paid for, a sweet little pure bred yorkie. You can use a scissor and cut as much hair off his ears, shaving is best but if you're afraid to shave then use a scissor and get as much off as you can to get the weight off them. Some members say to massage the ears for blood flow.

| Wanted to add, I had 2 girls with floppy ears, and 2 with straight ears. Floppy ears does not mean a yorkie is not a pure yorkie.
