YT 500 Club Member | Not long finished watching the group on the internet, the BOB looked nice but didn't make it to the final cut, it was won by a Maltese. Quite a few well known U.K. breeders in the top placings |

| I know this is a really old thread but I've found my breeder on this archive... Has anyone else purchased a Yorkie from any of the listed breeders or have any other experience with any of them? Show or otherwise? Last edited by SirTeddykins; 09-15-2014 at 04:31 AM. |

HI! Thanks for responding! I am considering getting another Yorkie but I do not want to go back to the breeder from where I got Teddy. Not because I dislike the breeder or anything.. However, after I purchased Teddy, she sent me home with a short autobiography about her personal life, how she got into showing and breeding etc. One thing she mentioned on her autobiography is that, despite her years of experience etc., she cannot seem to breed the correct coat. This is evident as Teddy has very cottony fur and when I asked her about grooming it, having had Teddy for a few weeks, she was sort of defensive about it. I wasn't challenging her expertise but I had never had a cotton coat Yorkie before so wanted to see if there were any products she could recommend but all I got from her was, "I thought you had Yorkies before and you mustn't hurt him..." SO, I'd ideally like to approach another breeder who has a proven record with the correct coat type, temperament etc. Is this something you think you could help with? Thanks again for your response!

I can tell you who i've met and who seems to be very friendly and approachable and at the top of their game. Thing is though I'm up in the Northwest of England so i might not of met the breeders around your area. Note: Everything i write below could be completely wrong so take it with a pinch of salt. I'm very very new and could have got the wrong end of the stick. Anyway to start of with there's Richard Haynes and John Geraghty who have EBURACUM and MANYORK Yorkies between them. I've actually got a Manyork pup of John via Richard which has a lovely silk coat. Both Richard and John as far as i know have been showing and breeding Yorkies for donkeys years (40+). Richard is semi-retired and is now a yorkie historian of sorts. He's a complete fountain of knowledge when it comes to English Yorkies, if he doesn't know the answer to your question no one will. Also they're both from what i can tell, I'm not certain though, International level judges. Area = Manchester Another pup i bought was a FRIDSTAIL of Anastasija Kotova. She's a young Lady (iirc 30) from Lativa but lives in England. From what i can tell she has been around Yorkies her entire life as her mother is a big show person in Lativa. Anyway she show's her dog's all over Europe and from what i've seen get's them to champion level in several countries. In fact only just recently she got one of her dogs Jackson up to International champion, and bella one of her other dogs got up to world champion in Helsinki. Area = Rotherham AUCHMUIR are Sheena Turnock dogs she's been showing and breeding iirc 20/30+ years. She's a genuinely nice lady and pretty much taught me how to groom a yorkie in the space of half an hour at the Staffordshire County Showground one day. I think she does Maltese to if you're ever interested in one of those. Area = Swindon WENWYTES are Mrs Wendy White-Tomas dogs, she's been around forever, in fact i've been told she's been showing and breeding for around 50 years. She's also one of the top breeders of Yorkshire terriers in the UK. I actually contacted her when i was first starting out over buying a pup but she didn't want to sell one with papers to me. I can't blame her as i was just some random person she had never meet before and she was just looking out for her dogs. She did though spend nearly an hour on the phone offering all sorts of advice and explaining different things about Yorkies. Which was really really nice of her as she just trying her hardest to help us even though we (myself and my partner Joanne) were complete strangers. Area = Coventry KANDYSU are Marlene Oxley, she is actually the Lady that first properly explained to me the difference between the various coats of Yorkies. From what i remember Marlene told me she's been showing and breeding for 50+ years. Marlene and her friend Brenda also are my favorite Yorkie people. Every time i go to a show i look out for them as they're just genuinely the nicest people you could ever meet. Area = Leeds There are many more people i've met and they've all been dead nice to be honest, all the Yorkie people i've met have in fact. Are you sure it's just not a misunderstanding with your original breeder, is there no way you can talk things out ? I can try and help you with dealing with the cotton coat if you want. This is one of my girls Star, she pretty much has a wooly coat. I've got her grooming though down to around 20 minutes a day and to 20 to 30 minutes in the shower roughly every 4 days. That's with having two other pups swinging on her hair all the time (i do try and stop them but it's near impossible) and while trying to grow a full coat. http://i61.tinypic.com/29c8fpd.jpg

| HI! Thanks for that reply which is very useful! I'm not upset with Teddy's breeder but I think she had fallen on hard times as she was asking me for advice re: refinancing her home and talked about how she wanted to let her pups go at 8wks instead of 12 and how the kennel clubs rules weren't as they should be in this respect etc.... To be fair, I didn't ask some questions that I should have, in retrospect, and she didn't offer me any information that I didn't ask for so I don't fault her. However, I would just like to make sure my next dog isn't brought home under such circumstances..lol In her favor, my dogs mom, dad, uncle and aunt were viewable as were other pups from the litters. Again, she said that this was the first time she'd ever had two litters at once and this was extremely stressful for her.. She also said my dog would be small and he is at just under four pounds. I didn't want a small dog, per se, but she said she thought he would be okay with me due to my previous experience etc. Teddy is now eleven months old and I've gotten my head around his coat needs. I do find he needs a bath more often than my silky coats ever did, do you find this true with your Star? Yet, despite being able to manage his coat, I wouldn't want another one with his coat type by choice if it could be helped if you know what I mean? Anyway, thanks for your reply!!!!!!!!! P.S. meant to say that my breeder doesn't appear on your list above! thanks for that! |

You can't buy and sell pups on that group page. I think though you can get away with explaining you would like to visit a show and meet some people as you are thinking about buying a new pup. As for Star i have to bathe her every say 4 days. I could probably get away with it being much longer but for sanitary needs. You see when i wrap her hair it gets very matted so i mainly let it hang free. Which then leaves me with the problem that she sometimes accidentally urinates on her long hair at the back. I'll figure it out in the end eventually it's just a bit of extra work for now. If you want your pup to have fewer mats you could try Pantene Pro-v smooth and sleek conditioner and Boots Coconut and Almond leave in conditioner. The Boots conditioner is brilliant when using a Madan brush for brushing out mats.
