Gemy, just wondering if you can explain how to read the judging schedule.

What do those 4 numbers beside every breed mean?

The ordering is as follows: A) Class dogs first #of males entered, then # of females entered B) Specials which means they are already champions - #of males entered, then # of females entered.


Sweepstakes is a special kind of thing that happens at Nationals, it is a kind of fundraiser for the club, and each class winner *wins* a bit of money. Only puppies are allowed entry and only for sweepstakes do you allow the 12-18 month old category.


When you get there, buy the catalogue, that will tell you the registered names and owners and breeders for every dog entered.


Also I can't remember if, but I think we will in the actual National Specialty we should have best puppy in breed! It usually goes on after BOB.

I am guessing that the first 2 numbers are referring to males who participate in open and champion class and the next 2, for females who participte in the same classes.

So, in our case when they say "16 Yorkshire Terriers 6-5-5-0"
it means that there are :

6 males in open class
5 males in champion class
5 females in open class
0 females in champion class

As you can see Junior, puppies and veterans are separately mentioned before.

Actually no Mike, the way we do it here, 6 Class Males of all ages - will be sorted into their various age classes, but they only give the total of all Class Males entered, 5 Female Class dogs again sorted into their age class, then there are 5 Male Champions entered and no Female Champions.


The judging schedule is an overview summary of the number of dogs entered in any one show. The divisor is Class dogs then Champion dogs. Males are always recorded first, then females = the total number of Class Dogs entered, then for the Champions - Males/Females.


The catalogue which you purchase when you arrive; will show you how the Class dogs break out by age class, and of course the owner, breeder, sire/dam etc of each dog entered.

Thanks for the explanation gemy. Were you the one with the cam on the tripod? If so, I was right next to you taking peeks at your catalogue!

For some reason I thought the booklet I got at the door was the catalogue!

I took a lot of bad pictures so it's going to take me some time to sort through the less blurry ones and I'll post them here. Unfortunately I don't know who they are. LOL. But I guess it can be cross-checked with gemy's videos.
