| ![]() Mardelin and I share the same Mentor. She said to me out of the blue, " after everything is said and done and you have Championed a dog, you probably will spend around $5000". That includes lodging, meals, entry fees, etc... She started me from ground up. I even have to clean anal glands. I love her for many reasons but one being, I dont have to champion her dogs. She saw that I had a desire to learn. And thats all it took. She goes with me to my shows and sits ringside and supports me every step of the way. I just love this lady.... |

The $5,000 is just Championing the dog...it does not include the equipment, training classes, grooming products or the cost of the dog.

| ![]() Haven't taught her how to make those.....I do keep some secrets to myself..... But, you're right....my Rosie had a bow that I made her with a real diamond and pearl in the center. She wore it until the day she Championed. At that time it was retired and put away.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Mardelin, sent you a pm. I realize that not breeding my own line means I will probably not ever have a show-quality dog, but the obedience & agility competions sound just as satisfying to me. To everyone else, I don't think the breeder actually shows her dogs, she just breeds to champions, so the pedigree's are nice. But what do I know? lol. I'm new and the only name I recognize is Durrer & that's 4 generations back. AM Can Ch CH-Durrer's Tin Whistle...& Durrer's Lady Margaret (non-champion), & I only recognize that name from YT. I have pretty much decided to wait on the purchase of this pup, & perhaps get one in the future when I know a little more. There are some shows coming up here in May that I am going to see. I actually had pay-pal up & ready to buy, when I decided it was probably best to wait. But he is toooo cute...I have 2 cuties already:P

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Mardelin said to stay away from this breeder, for one of the reasons you mentioned Nancy, among others. So I guess I'll just start out spectating some shows...lol.

If your interest still holds true and firm, then note and investigate those Yorkie breeders who trial their dogs in obedience and or agility and or rally. There are a whole host of passionate dedicated folks who "work" their dogs, and enjoy wholeheartedly these competitive sports. IMO, working with your dog (s) is such a wonderful experience. Full sometimes of frustration, joys, fun times, and every week you and your dog grow closer and closer together. In entering formal training, you and your dog, get to associate with dog folks, who speak the same language, who can commiserate with you, over a lapsed sit/stay, or improper sit. I remember my very first competitive obedience trial for CD (Companion Dog), my total fear was the heel off lead. We did so well, change of paces, the stops, and at the very very end, it was the come/return and Magic came all right sat as he was supposed to in front of me, then I was given the signal by the judge to complete the exercise which was heel around, Magic looked at me as if he had never heard this before ![]()

I do enjoy watching these in particular, I find myself holding my breath, gasping in surprise while rooting them on. Much better than an edge-of-your-seat thriller! I can't explain it any better, so most will probably think I'm nuts, & maybe I am a bit ![]()
