Good advice about the DQ. Please try to get a mentor. It sounds like you want to do this. It is night and day different trying to learn what to do without one. Your aren't in a rush. Maybe you will meet someone in class. But you want the right one, not just anyone. Have you checked into a local breed club? I wish you success.

Did she talk to you about caring for his coat? Don't let anyone discourage you, but know a mentor is the best way. Go have fun with your dog.

She did give me a lot of great advice about care coat and practicing, etc. I feel like I have a bit more breathing room to learn more now that I will be more in a wait and see situation. I will be doing conformation classes at the local kennel club but they don't start until September. Maybe I will make some good contacts thru it. Thanks again for all the great info and guidance!
