| Congrats on BOS and getting him so close to his championship! Hey if you are enjoying showing him I would continue to show him yourself. Many people advised me to get a handler for our first show dog, and although he never finished I can't even begin to tell you everything we learned from showing him ourself. His offspring are now in the ring, one in Canada and 2 here that are doing very well owner handled. I almost have his daughter finished and I know I wouldn't be this far with her if I didn't have that first hand experience. Yea he probably would have been finished no problem but I'm not sure I want to trade those experiences for the title. I don't think there is a magic age, I think they all mature differently. I have seen young dogs finish and I have seen some dogs not go in the ring until 3 years old or later, in full coat and ready to compete. I live in the NE corner of Ohio! We have a beautiful show on Lake Erie we will be attending in July and then a nice 4-day cluster too in Ohio at the beginning of August. Let me know if you want more information and I would be happy to give you the details.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Me too he was quite distracted at times. But lots going on at home with Zoey in heat, and Mom he could smell, but where exactly was I? hiding behind ring to get pics and video But he stood like a Pro on the table for examination, and well er umm "we" sometimes have difficultywith that, as Razz man wants to kiss/greet the judges.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Gail, I think it's wonderful that you are showing Razz ! I know it can be discouraging.....trust me , I know !! I am so knew at this, and I get all of those same comments as you do from my peers,it can be so frustrating ! But, I do love to show and I really want to finish Sebastien myself. I'm sure that if I had a handler showing him, that he would be finished now. Like Razz , Sebastien is just a little more than 18 months, also he is not big....weighing in at a whopping 4 1/2 lbs., But he's beaten some pretty tough competition, and I'm determined to do this on my own. I totally agrre with Jackie, I've learned so much through each show and preparing for each show.I wouldn't know what I do now if I had gotten a handler. Like Donna said, you can do this....and by what I'm reading, you really want to ! You go Girl !! |
