I still say there was no need to post such a post on this thread.....your problems should have been handled over the phone......not here. |
what is the typical outfit to wear to a Dog Show? I mean, is there like a guidelines on that? |

Dog Showing is a sport. There are some guidelines. Men, slacks, shirt, tie and jacket. Women, skirts, dresses, slacks....jackets....nice business attire. However, you must remember that you dress to show off your dog.....not distracting from it's presentation. Colors that show off it's color/structure. You are the back drop for your dog....flowy skirts are a detractent. No dangly flashy, loud sounding jewelery......there are pieces of jewelery that can be used to show off your dogs attributes...but, will explain that later. Shoes should be flat, comfortable, with no sound. You don't want your dog or anyone elses dog to be spoofed by your shoes making noise. When trying on your clothes that your purchasing for the ring. Bend; look at your behind in the mirror......kneel and get up and make sure you aren't providing a different show..... You will find the simpler, tailored clothes and hairstyles are best, you won't have much time for yourself, after getting a dog ready....so you want your clothes to be attractive, wrinkle proof, and long lasting..... OF THE HUNDREDS OF YORKIE BREEDERS I KNOW, NONE OF THEM WOULD EVER ADVERTISE PUPPIES ON WEB SITES SERVERS LIKE YORKIETALK USES. The very best of breeders have waiting lists for their puppies and therefore have no need to ever advertise puppies for sale. Also good reputable breeders will not ship puppies to people they've never met. That's not to disparage YorkieTalk since they have no control over the ads that appear on the advertising banners. Their only control would be to spend money for server space that doesn't use advertising to supplement the cost of the service. |
So its ok to wear dress slacks? I am 6ft tall and most dresses are just too short on me! I really dont want to offer a different kind of show! LOL! |

Absolutely, it's about the only thing I wear. With a sweater, blouse (dependent on the Season) and a jacket that covers my bum...... Actually slacks have pockets and belt loops, great for attaching bait bags.....stuffing things in.....squeeker toys, little spray bottles of this and that and of course your brush pushed into your belt..... Some of the great old time breeders still wear skirts, it was what was acceptable and what they were taught when they first started out. You see Doreen Hubbard and Lorraine Hayes in skirts all the time.....I for one don't have great legs like they do....and I'm not very graceful getting up from my knees. |

Ok, are colors important? I mean, should i wear light colors or dark?? Which seem to be better? My aunt is a seemstress and I am going to have her make me a nice pant suit... |
1 Attachment(s) I usually always wear slacks with an easy comfortable shirt and then a jacket. This way I can take the jacket off while getting my dog/s ready for the ring. It does tend to get warm in the grooming area. So you need to be able to be confortable, but nicely done. Here is a photo of one of my outfits. Hmmm... got to do something with that double chin when I look down. Oh, yea - wear comfortable flat shoes. That is one thing - I cannot find pretty... comfortable flat shoes. But at least we all look the same in the shoe department. You can tell a newbie if they show up in heels. LOL! |
