Thanks Mary. It should be a great show. Has the Bluebonnet club ever considered have back to back specialties like the Houston club does? I think it would be great if they could sometime.

Have you ever put on a show......lots of hard work and lots of hours of planning, and coordination. Planning for the next show starts in October....

Nope, we'd rather put on one good show than 2 mediocre ones......Our entries are down this year because Onofrio screwed up with the Toy Dog Club's Premium list.....they didn't get them out until the Friday before the show was closing. Their show usually pulls in our entries.....and we usually have a 5 point major......with 10 or more Specials.

Anyway with 3 days of shows....it's considered a cluster. Not only that, there are several Specials being held on Friday, starting at 8 in the morning and going through the evening.

I live in the DFW area and would love to go to this show as I have never been to one before. I found the address for it but I was wondering what the cost was for getting in or is there one?

No charge, if you 'd like just the cost of a catalogue.......We'd love to have you. If you can we have a dinner/auction afterwards.....come join if you can. Sign up will be at the show.....it's at the Texas Land and Cattle Company....

Thank you very much! I just have to talk to my hubby about it but I am sure that he wouldn't have a problem with going to the dinner afterwords. What are the rules with bringing your pets to the show? I don't know for sure that I would bring Winston if it was possible because I wouldn't have anywhere for him to stay if I went to the dinner. Just curious though.

AKC rules say no.....but, everyone does....make sure you have a carrier and pray he doesn't bark.....not that there aren't barking dogs there.....just don't want him barking ringside.....

We'd love to have you join in the fun at dinner.....it's usually a blast.....lots of great yorkie things are auctioned off.....

Maybe I will just let my mom doggy sit for me then and just bring my hubby along. That dinner does sound like a lot of fun and I would like to get some cute yorkie things. I'll let you know what he says. Thanks for all the info. You have been very helpful

Yes, I know what is involved in putting on a show, it has been many years since I helped in doing that. I never considered the Houston shows mediocre, I think they do a fabulous job. I know it is a lot of hard work. Hopefully I will get to make up there next year. I just hope the majors hold for everyone up there all three day.

I don't think Mary was indicating that Houston is medicore just that it's expensive to hold two shows and a lot of work involved in putting on two specialities back to back. Houston isn't the only one that does back to back specialities....Houston does do a good job but Bluebonnet loves to give fabulous prizes so people will want to keep coming back. Holding specialities is expensive and when you have two it's double the expense...

Thanks Donna, you're right again. By no way did I mean that Houston's show was mediocre....As a matter of fact it was voted just recently, and the club voted it down. And since we cluster with the Toy Cub, and so many other Specialties are going on the same day ours is.....I don't think the Toy Club would sanction it. The room would have to be rented out for a longer duration of time.......we'd be running the specialties long into the night....

And then one must consider the dogs.....it's a long hard day on them.

A Specialty is expensive......Trophies alone this year were up into the $750.00 range, not including BOB Trophy, since Carl donates that every year (Cheap this year, but Mary Ann and I did some extensive research and communications) .....it takes time to find the perfect trophies....Not taking into that factor the cost of ribbons, ring steward, judges fees, along with their expenses, photogropher fees, insurance, extra costs for electricity, costs for clean up crews......Hospitality bags, premium lists, catalogues.....mailing out to various vendors for donations, plus thank you cards......Cost of renting a place for the dinner......plus running an auction, that takes time.

We have a 4 point major in dogs, and 3 in bitches....I think it'll hold up

I want to go to!! I have never been. I live in Rockwall. Where is it, or what is the website. I guess I missed it, I will see if I can find it in the thread.

It's Friday, Sept. 11, 12 and 13 at the Sterling Hotel on Regal Row....The Specialty is on friday and starting at 1:00.....
