| I do have a question about wrapping. how long does the hair have to be before it should be wrapped to avoid breakage. Mine is not that long but it is definitely in the way of her daily eating and drinking and I didnt really wanna cut it, thought I would try wrapping her beard at least. (IF she will stand for it!!) And canI buy papers at the groomers, or do I need to go online?

| I’m sorry, but I’m not an expert… And I don’t believe professionals have much time on their hands to answer all the questions… I only speak for myself! I learned how to groom from the videos I purchased here: ...::: Welcome to Yorky Club - Shopping - Products :::... If you still feel you didn't learn enough from this lessons, and still have some questions I bet any professionals at your local dog show will find a minute to answer to all your educated questions. |

| Are the wrapping papers different from what you would use if you were doing a perm on human hair? If not, then you can get them at any beauty supply place, like Sally's (or whatever you have in your area). They may be less expensive, and you'd save S & H charges, too. |

They used to call them bakery wraps. They were similar to wax paper but smaller and not as waxy. There is also "rice" paper wraps. I think it depends on the texture of the coat which wrap works best. I used to do nothing but wrap my Yorkies coats with wraps, but after 20 years of not showing and then coming back into it, I'm talking with several breeders that do not wrap at all. Oil seems to be the preference for some. I think it all depends on the time you have to wrap and the kind of coat. My friend has a bitch with lovely silk coat, but it really breaks and mats with wraps. I have a bitch with very dark (too dark yet) silk coat that never tangles not matter what I do. Has anyone here ever used oil and then decided against it for any reasons? I've heard some say that is "dulls" the coat when used all the time? Hope that might help? Lisa | |

I think it was my breeder who told me that oil dulls the coat after a while. She uses the Bio Groom creme - it's thick and it's in a jar. She told me about it and I really love it. It works great. She usually wraps only her males, not her females.
