Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | Submissive? Ok I am wanting to show MeiLing but being as spoiled as she is she is so submissive...she instantly lays down to get a belly rub when anyone reaches their hands out to try and pet her or something. While in handling class the instructor would reach out to act like she is feeling on her MeiLing would just sit down and try to roll over on her back to get a belly rub. My question is how do you break her habit on doing that?

| That can be a problem. Does she go well on a lead? If she will follow you while she is on a lead then take some bait and hold it down in front of her and as you come to a stop say 'stand' and hold the bait in front of her. If she tries to sit or lay down just lift her up and say 'stand' then give her a little bait. It will take a lot of practice. Just getting her used to the lead and following you will help a lot. For conformation you just don't want them to sit. Perhaps some of the more experienced show people can give you some other ideas too. How are the classes going, are they conformation classes or basic obedience? |

| Peanut does the same thing. I sometimes think that he was abused before I got him. He is so very submissive. When we are outside and I go to pick him up he lays down in the middle of the street and rolls on his side?????? Other than that he thinks he is a Rottweiler!
