Red rossettes are group 2 in ukc. Wouldn't be a bad thing at all at a ukc show! And not a bad thing in akc either, a ribbon is a ribbon that was earned. They do not have to award any ribbon at all. Be proud of your accomplishments and awards. You are just starting out, and there are many people myself included just like you.
I cherish every ribbon. No matter the color, it was an experience under our belts, and experience is priceless in this sport.

Everyone's babies are so beautiful in this thread. I've really enjoyed it.

yep, I have one of those already it says, GROUP 2 puppy. That was because a dang chi kept beating her but she moved up from fourth in group to finally two and it was a close call. The judge almost gave her group one. I was holding my breath. Robbie, I sent you her picturess from that weekend with all her pretty ribbons, But, I never did hear back from you. Didn't you get it. If not, I will send them again. I was so proud and a lot of thanks goes to you and a few others on here that show UKC.

Keep the pics coming, this is so fun! Everyone's dogs are so beautiful!!! To the long time exhibitors, I have a question. What changes have you seen as far as the trends for the yorkies in the ring? Are they running smaller, larger, darker, leggier?

When I started showing back in the 80's (almost 30 years ago) you saw more softer coated yorkies in the ring. Now, I am pleased to see more silky coats. Last year I saw more smaller yorkies taking the points. It will be interesting to see what this year will hold. My Easy is up in legg, very elegant, with a very silky coat and great color (clear gold head and nice solid blue)! There is no way she could get DQed for color that is for sure, so I hope she will do well.

I do appreciate all that have posted. This can be a great learning thread for all. Many of us have dreams of one day owning or breeding a champion Yorkie. Many of you have had your dreams come true and you are helping others to succeed in fulfilling their dream. If possible I think it would be great if you could list sire and dam of your show dogs when you post pictures. Thanks again and keep them coming. Best of luck to all of you this year in the show ring.:thumbup:

Oh I won't be making the decision as to whether or not he's good enough to go into a show home, that's what my mentor is for. I've been showing for 16 months and don't feel qualified to make that judgement yet, there's just so much to look for. He's done exceptionally well in the puppy match ring and has been evaluated by other exhibitors but when it comes down to it Suzie will make the call and that will be after she has Bev and Angel of Tiffany's yorkies evaluate him and Paris. Bev and Angel are Suzie's mentors and with their 30 years of experience I feel pretty confident.

I think Boys are the funnest to show they are moody like us girls LOL

I was always a "girl dog" kind of person as a child until my parents brought home my first (male) cairn terrier which was an adorable, spunky, ch sired male who made my heart flutter all throughout the 80's. He quickly became my best friend and confidant, traveling to horse shows with us and harassing my friends while he strode along side me on my bike or honda spree for many summers, lol!:)

I enjoyed showing my two girls and the girls belonging to friends I have handled, and my future goals are to someday produce a little girl that will hopefully work out for the ring..but I will always have a sweet spot for the little "home boys" ha, please note I have an 11 yr old daughter who somewhere between her Hannah Montana and Justin Timberlake phase has dubbed our males "the home boys" :D

I have a question, is a soft coat a dq?
I have been looking in a spanish forum, and I just love this dog, it seems so beautiful, I love her face and her hair, let me know what you think

a soft coat is not a DQ but it is a fault

I looked at the dog in the link and it looks like a silk to me. In fact, it looks alot like my Denali who has been labeled a European silk. All I know is the judges seem to like her coat type.

Tammy do you remember this thread? Oh I won't be making the decision as to whether or not he's good enough to go into a show home, that's what my mentor is for. I've been showing for 16 months and don't feel qualified to make that judgement yet, there's just so much to look for. Welcome to YT! Yes, I remember. I had Bev and Angel take a look at him while we were in Fredericksburg. They liked him and they loved Connor. The trick is finding the perfect show home where he'll be loved as much as he's loved here. It's hard to find the perfect home but meanwhile he's okay here with me.

I met you early in your dog show journey. I have watched you learn to show and to groom. You have studied pedigrees, read books and have gone out of your way to find people to teach you about this breed. You and I have had countless conversations about stucture, coat, movement ect. I told you months ago that you have to "develop an eye for a dog". I beleive you have. You understand the Yorkshire Terrier. You probably know more than a lot of people that have been showing for years. Please tell me why you won't trust you own instincts? Should you ask for others opinions - absolutely. Listen to others but when it comes down to the decision of what to do with the dogs
you breed, make it yourself. Trust yourself!

Thank you Laurie for your kind words and your support. I think I'll take your advise and trust my insticts. I've learned so much from you. One of the greatest things that you can get out of this board besides a great education from people who have been there and are willing to share are the friends that you make. I know that in you I have made a friend for life.

no i bought him recent to try and show
chaz's babies are just five weeks old
i am thinking of showing him in the puppy match in paduca ky in june
if i can get him lead broke he is 15 week's and weighs 2.9 pounds
