June 18th is "Kill Day" IL people please Help!
 
Hi! Last night I saw that the Crawford County Humane Society has several dogs who need help before they are put to sleep on Saturday, June, 18! They are all larger dogs I think. I'm not computer savvy enough to put the shelter web address on here, but PLEASE go to a search engine and find them! It looks like they may be closed on Mondays, but I'm gonna call and find out! If one of you computer whizzes would put the web address on this thread, I'd really appreciate it! The shelter is in Robinson, IL and is not far from IN, or the ST. Louis area! I'll meet you halfway with one of the dogs if travel is a problem. Let's pull together and save some lives!

I am seriously going to cry. There are 26 dogs that need homes with the exception of those pending which is only 1. This is the reason why I am moving from this townhouse into a house with land within the next several months.

I read an article somewhere that in the southern states like NC, SC the put all the dogs that are sceduled to die in the enclosed room and fille the air with toxins and the site went so far as to describe what the dogs do before they die. Very sad :cry8:

And what pisses me off is that these dogs were sooooo cute as puppies when there owners got them, then as they get older...no one wants them. :angry:

Ditto! Or they move off and leave them! I cannot imagine it!

Come on Midwesterners! Let's help some of these poor dogs who need us! I'm calling tomorrow! Even if we can only foster them until we find them homes, we can save their precious lives!

No. He won't. He said I can have as many dogs as I want as long as I take them with me when I leave (in a few months) and I don't want a Lab because I dont know where I will be living (i.e. apt). :( Not to mention the fact that I can barely afford to feed myself and Stewie.

omg i just thought of that like as i read it. we are learning about that in school and its terriable. and i'm so sad that those poor dogs have to go through it just causae they're not puppies and their owners didn't want an adult dog or didn't take the time to find them homes.

Man I could never own another dog with the new puppy in the house.I would LOOOOOVE to be able to take some in and find homes for them. i know a bunch of my friends who want a dog really bad. but my mom did so much for me by letting me get a new puppy (and i'm talking about before we got bandit and i was begging for one) then she did even more when she let me get tucker. i know i shouldn't even bother asking her. i really wish there was something i could do though.......

Okay, I talked to the lady at the shelter and the dogs are still there and they are definetely going to be killed on Saturday! The little Yorkie/Maltese is still there and is around 2 to 3 years old. She is not in danger of being put down. Poor Layla has been kenneled for 3 months! She will be put down on Saturday if I can't get her. hubby isn't cooperating, but I will keep working on it. At least maybe he will let me foster one until we can find a home for it. This kills me!

I crossed posted this to the united yorkie rescue and they are looking into the yorkie mix. I also cross posted this to several different message boards that i vist i'm in CA wish i could do something else for these babies. and yes the rescue talked to them also and yes they will all (urgent ones) be put down on the 18th this is so sad i cant beleive it i wish i was closer i also wish i would have seen this post earlier may i could have spread the word more with cross posting.

I'm going this week to get one of the big dogs that need help. I may also get the Yorkie/Maltese and see if one of you can take her.

i would love to but i'm all the way in CA dont know how that would work. I gave them the site and they are looking into her also they also called the shelter i'm so glad there are people like you willing to step up and take on a new responsabilty that is so kind of you ((((hugs)))) wish i was closer i would go get them all if i could

I sent an e-mail to petrealtors..they are a yorkie rescue loacted in MIchigan. I hope they can help that little girl. I am in the middle of you, Eensor and the rescue...so if i could be of any help...i would be more than happy to help. I will let you know if I get an e-mail response!

Here is the e-mail that I sent to the rescue reffered to above!

I am a member of www.yorkietalk.com and a yorkie mix was brought to my attention that is in need of rescuing in Illinois. I sent the link to you directly from petfinder, but am resending it now just in case. http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?act...=0&tmpl=&stat= I was told this is a high kill shelter and this baby looks like she needs rescuing.
