| I've just talked to the vet and Lily's bile acid is over 30........ they are sending the test out because their machine will only record to 30. They've told me that I should prepare myself for a diagnosis of liver shunt. My heart is breaking. Now we need to pray that it's not a microvasular shunt. |

| I thought a bile acid test of 30 wasn't bad...or is this the pre test? I will be thinking of Lily, hoping and praying for good news. Hugs to you, too!!!

| I can't imagine what you are going through, sending prayers, and strength your way, please keep us updated, I am really worried about this poor little girl, she has gone through so much, and now this. I am devastated for both of you. She seemed so active to have liver shunts, I am really surprised, I think I would re test her, to find out what her count really is with a machine that goes over 30. I just am in shock, I can't believe she could gain so much weight so fast and be so active and have liver shunts. The good thing is she can be operated on to correct the problem, and she is a strong little girl and a fighter. I also would be so worried about putting her under again after what happened last time. Trish I just feel so bad for you and Lily, all we all can do is pray, and you know you have all our prayers for a good outcome, Lily so deserves to live after all she has been through. May God Bless you Trish for being her Guardian Angel, and may he pull Lily through yet another crisis. |

| Thank you all so much!!!! Each and every one of you. You've been so supportive! I honestly appreciate your thoughts and prayers. Sondra..... you are wonderful! Jeanie, so are you......I agree with you.... but I'm not the vet! The tests have been sent to IDEX....... expect to hear at the beginning of the week and I am also waiting to hear about the foot scraping that was done. I have my mind focused........ I am not going to worry about the worse until I know it's the worse. Actually, there are two types of liver shunt, one that can be repaired, one that can't be. BUT........ right now, I'm concentrating on thinking that the test will show she doesn't have shunt....... I'd be happy with white dog shaker syndrome!!! There's definitely something wrong....... an idiot could tell that there was....... sadly.... the rescue she came from says I'm wrong. I called them today....... it was an exercise in futility. Next week, I'll gladly let you know the details of where she came from. I can't even get them to cooperate by telling me where she came from so I can get her vet records....They claim they aren't required to keep records! .. Supposedly from a breeder of champions in Fort Worth, TX. And we wonder why the breed has so many problems. Friends, do you know that according the the latest research at the University of TN... the leader in shunt research, Yorkies are 1225 times more likely to have liver shunt than all other breeds combined?!!!!!! Think about it before you think you want your baby to have puppies, buy a dog from a pet store. Please only buy from a reputable breeder or a reputable rescue!!!!! Betty and I would never allow this to happen to you. |

| Thank you all so much for your prayers and donations to help little Lily. You just can't know how much we appreciate you all. The following is an update [which I posted on MillBusters too] and we will continue to update occasionally. This is one tough, determined little girl!! On a happy note our little Lily has an update! Indeed she does have problems and, in spite of them, is the sweetest, smartest little girl. There were those who were interested in adopting her when she was first rescued. Our rescue is a little different than some, in that our focus is the physical and emotional healing and then concentrate on the "forever home". If the dog is intact they are spayed/neutered and since our vet felt it safe to spay her after she gained some weight [her only problem when she came in appeared to only be starvation]. She gained beautifully, went in for her spay and her heart stopped and she had to be revived 3 times. We just couldn't let her go, she had been through so much and just learned to trust those who loved her. What a scare .... fast forward .... those that were interested in adopting her no longer wanted one with "problems". Trish nursed/loved her back and then we learned about the liver problems and possible neuro problems. Patrick & I decided that since she would be "unadoptable" that we would adopt her and she would join our Toto on her little "Yorkie Throne"!! We would love her and do whatever it took for her to have a healthy, happy life. Out of the clear blue ... an angel couple who were not deterred by the medical problems, nor the expense, wanted her and there was not a more perfect prospective life for Lily! Isn't that amazing ... there are good, caring people out there! They were told everything in advance [we don't withhold anything and they are more than able to handle expenses that could be ahead] ... so Lily, her medical records and all her stuff are all settled in her forever home and her new Mom & Dad just adore her. So long as she is coming along so nicely, the medical issues will be approached slowly ... they feel, as we do, that she has been through enough to this point and it is better, for her, to take it one day at the time!! Sorry this is so long .... the investigation of the horrible place she came from goes on, hopefully with successful results .... and Lily is doing great and oh how she is loved ... Trish spoke with her new parents yesterday and she is doing great and evidently has decided that she rules her new home!! But, isn't that what Yorkies do???

| Donating YT 500 Club Member | Sometimes I don't read these threads because they are just SO heartbreaking. It's wonderful though when one ends like this! No matter what happens from here on out, this little girl was saved and was able to have love lavished on her and allowed to live like most YT Yorkies live. God bless you for all your efforts and your determination that made this so! |

| I am so happy to hear that Lily has a "forever" home with parents who can care for her properly. I have 2 babies and cannot have more, and i do not live nearby. However, I was thinking of getting her a "forever" home here, with a friend. Glad there is a happy beginning for her. Sweet baby! You and Trish are Yorkie Saints ....
