I can't believe this puppy isn't adopted yet - and being a poop eater is no biggy - they get over it eventually and if not - someone can always just scoop it up....She's precious and good luck to those trying !

My daughter had a rather bad experience with a rescue in Minneapolis. Maybe they just don't have enough volunteers as was mentioned before. But they fostered a dog for nearly a year and could never get hold of the woman who was their contact. When they decided to adopt the dog, they were not even encouraged. In fact, when the dog was ill, and they spent money at the emergency vet, they were discouraged for doing so. They finally just said that they would not ask to be paid back but wanted the dog. It took weeks before they were actually told he was staying. During the time Wally was with them and on Petfinder, there was only one couple that came to see him. It was like he was in a safe place so they just forgot about him.

Well, I followed the steps and got a letter back say that she was in Dallas, there was a 375 adoption fee (which isn't an issue 4 me), but that basically it would be very hard to adopt her becasue they are picky. The letter also listed most of the bad things about her... no wonder she is not adopted yet. I feel so bad for her. It says how she has been moved around to a few places becasue 1 foster mom was sick, then she didnt' get along with the next family, went back to the elderly sick foster now.

Are you still going to try? Just curious here. Bless her heart! Were they specific about the type of home they are looking for? Did they detail her issues? Poor little girl.

I cannot believe this. If it takes this long to adopt a Yorkie out then I have serious problems with the rescue group. I don't understand where the idea of adopters having to have a fenced in yard comes from either. Our fenced in yard has holes in the bottom and Ellie isn't allowed out there. There is also the issue of animals getting to Yorkies in the fence. Ellie is never allowed outside unsupervised and she is on a leash. What is so bad about that? They really need to let up a lot.

Default She Still Needs A 4-ever Home!!!!!

OK - LET'S FIND THIS GIRL A HOME! IS THERE SOMEONE IN TEXAS THAT CAN GET HER OR SOMEONE WILLING TO DRIVE??? SHE IS IN DALLAS/FT WORTH AREA

I LIVE TO FAR AWAY AND SHE HAS BEEN WITHOUT A REAL HOME FOR TOO LONG!!! SHE IS A CUTIE.

I EMAILED LAST NIGHT AT ABOUT 2:30 AM & GOT A RESPONSE THIS MORNING THAT I'M COPYING BELOW

THIS IS THE EMAIL ADDRESS I WROTE TO: jackiep1@tx.rr.com

HERE'S THE MESSAGE:

Thank you for your interest in Dory. Dory is 7 years old and weighs about 8
pounds. She does not have any medical issues that I am aware of. Her
adoption donation is a firm $375 and PMR does not take payments. She is in
the Dallas/Ft Worth area of Texas, whoever adopts her will have to come to
Texas to get her as she will not be shipped.

Let me tell you a little bit about Dory. She was rescued from a puppymill
where she was used as a breeder dog and kept outside. She doesn't like
storms, loud noises or sudden moves, they scare her, but they would scare me
too if I came from here where she did. She does have some separation
anxiety.

She is not totally housebroken, but most of the time will go
on a pee pee pad. Most puppymill dogs are not fully housebroken and yorkies
are the hardest to train.

On the brighter side, she is a very sweet girl who wants her forever family
to love her just as she would love them. She loves being with you and going
in the car. When I go to leave she thinks she should go too. I took her on a
home visit recently and was just amazed at how well she did. She let them
hold her and
love on her; she gave them lots of kisses and received kisses back. She is
good with other dogs, but I don't know about kids because of them being loud
and moving fast, whether she would be good with them or not, I do know that
she wouldn't be good with ones under 12. A friend came to visit recently and
Dory would go to her and get into her lap and give her kisses, she is
definitely ready for her forever home.

If you are still interested in Dory, please go to www.puppymillrescue.com
and fill out an application.

I have to ask WHY this girl isn't adopted yet - is the rescue being so demanding no one can pass the interviews ? I know a friend who really had a bad experience with them and she would have been a GREAT mom - but some (AND I SAY SOME NOT ALL) rescues go deeper into your lives than the CIA - there's too many dogs needing help like this girl and I don't understand why this process is taking so long for her

If I had the money I'd go get her - with my husband as sick as he is I just can't but keep checking this thread and just can't believe she isn't in a loving home yet

This is just sad yet INFURIATING to me. This is why I don't have a rescue. I completely understand that the dog's need of finding a forever home comes first and foremost but I would NEVER be a candidate for a rescue because I don't have a fenced in yard and I have a job. It doesn't matter that I don't work extremely long days and that I have 9 weeks off during the summer, or that my other 2 yorkies are spoiled rotten and don't go without ANYTHING but I still am not a candidate for a rescue. Even if I HAD a fenced in yard, I would NEVER leave them unattended in a fenced in yard because anything can happen (hawks, other animals, they can dig their way out, etc.) As a result, rescues like Dory will remain in a foster home rather than a forever home.
Ok-done venting...hope Dory is able to find a forever home soon

I LOVE what rescues do and appreciate the time and effort they put into helping dogs - but I have to agree with you girl - there are so many GOOD homes that don't qualify or they make the process so hard people give up.

when so many dogs are needing forever homes I would think it would be a case to case basis - I just feel so bad seeing this girl up for adoption for so long - she needs a good home with people that will love her.
