Going to look for a Yorkie to get the feeling of having a Yorkie
 

Today I got to go to the doctor. After I am done with the doctor I am going to look for a Yorkie. I am going to Petland in Dunwoody I can't wait. I am trying to pick from Petland in Dunwoody, Petland in Kennesaw, or 19breeders. All three of them have cute yorkies. Ever time I call 19breeders I don't get any body so I might not go to them to get my yorkie and I don't know how much they yorkie is. Both Petlands has almost the same things but four things that make them different. That is the one in Dunwoody is $500 less then the one in Kennesaw. The one in Kennesw has free puppy training for 5 weeks and the one in Dunwoody do not. The one in Kennesaw is family own and the one in Dunwoody is not. And the one in Dunwoody I can go there and get my yorkie get him home in a hour to a hour in a 1/2 the one in Kennesaw it will take me about 2 to 3 hours to get him home. So I think I know which one I am going to but I am still going to check them out. :cool: CAN'T WAIT :D

Welcome to YT !PLEASE DO NOT buy a yorkie or any other puppy from a pet store. Puppies from pet stores ALL come from Puppy Mills & BYB's. Do your research on puppy mills ASAP & you will see/learn just what you are supporting if you buy a puppy from a pet store. All pet stores only get their pups from mills & back yard breeders & you will have a life time of heartache & vet bills if you choose this route. Go to the Breeder section here on YT or the American Kennel Club to find a reputable breeder & you will not regret the wait for your new family member. You came to the rite place to learn all you need to know before you get your new puppy.

There is a list of Puppy Mills on this site as well as information about buying a puppy from a pet store. You are making a life long decision here. Please do your research and buy from a reputable breeder. I and many others here would hate to see your future postings about what to do about a sick or dying puppy!! Take your time and we will all celebrate the new member of your family. Best of luck!!

you just got two good advice I know you can't wait to get a yorkie but if you don't just think of all the time and money that you would have to shell out cause of illness down the road you must do your research

I get what every one is say but with me I don't always go by what's on the internet. Why because some time people put up bad things to close out the other people. Then you do have it where some time people put up good things so people can come and they do some time get their family to do it. Also the breeder I found want to much to to much. And some of them was not breeders. This is how I am I don't always read what's on the internet.

PLEASE don't go to Petland. You WILL be supporting puppy mills and back yard breeders. It's a fact. A guarantee. I know I wouldn't be able to pay the amount for the vets to get/keep those puppies healthy. Please do research. It's everywhere. Last night it was on the news where I live. They are starting to ban pet stores from selling puppies in store from these horrible people. And it's about time.

Petland has been all over the national news, have you not seen it ? It's not just on the internet although you can pull up youtube & search for puppy mills & there are many undercover videos on mill dogs. The fact is that pet stores have absolutely no idea about the health or genetic issues of any pup they sell & they ALL say they get their pups from reputable breeders & the fact is, They LIE ! There have ben many shows on TV over the past few yrs exposing them for the scum they are. I understand that maybe the breeder you found wanted more then you could afford but if you look at the big picture, you will see that paying a bit more money at purchase will most likely save you thousands in the long run. PLEASE stick around & read, read, read all over YT & ask lots of questions so you can learn what to look for when buying a puppy. Also many back yard breeders ask nearly double the price then a reputable breeder would for a pet quality puppy & they make claims such as (my pups are T-Cups ) for you to purchase one & have it grow into a 10 pound dog as there is NO SUCH THING as a T-Cup anything, these are marketing ploys just to sell their pups. Know that NO Reputable breeder EVER sells their pups to pet stores. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, we are not here to torment you & know that you would be heart broken if you purchased a sick puppy only to have it die or cost you thousands of $$$$ to save it's life. Read up on Liver Shunt & Chiari malformation & Luxating Patellas, these are just a few of the diseases/conditions that puppy mills produce in their pups & they are devastating for both the puppy & for you & your family. All we ask of you is to Educate yourself about puppy mills & BYB's BEFORE you spend your hard earned money only to end up with an unhealthy puppy or dog in the future.

You are setting your own self up for a huge expense and heartache. If you do not have the money to pay for a healthy pup from a reputable breeder, you do not have the money to purchase a sick pup or a pup with genetic issues, that are going to cost you $3000.00 - $7000.00 or more, trying to save a sick puppy mill baby. But you sound like you have already formed your opinion and you will have to learn the hard way, who you should be listening to, and where you should be gathering your research on puppys sold in pet stores. Good luck, and start saving your money for the future vet bills you will be facing with your cheap puppy mill baby. Sometimes these cruel, heart breaking, hard learned life lessons are the absolute best teachers.

AtlYorkie, PLEASE PLEASE listen to the advice you are getting from these experienced folks. It may seem as though they don't understand that you have limited funds, but believe me they only have your best interest at heart.

I can tell you from personal experience that you are setting yourself up for heartache. I wanted a Ragdoll kitten in the worst way, and there were no breeders close to us, and most were very expensive. Found a breeder with cheap kittens so hubby and I went to see them. I WAS SOOOO STUPID! We bought a kitten, took it to the vet, and found out that Charlee had leukemia! We contacted the BYB and she was a TOTAL ASS!! We loved Charlee so much that we couldn't bear to give her back to this idiot! I started looking on the internet and found a Ragdoll forum and wished I had found them before buying a kitten. I would have totally understood how important it is to buy from a reputable breeder.

We have got to stop the practice of irresponsible breeding, and we can't do that if people continue to buy from them. I am soooo glad that you came to YT before buying your pup....wished I would have done that before buying Charlee. I DO NOT regret getting Charlee, what I regret is supporting this horrible practice.

So please, please, rethink purchasing from a pet store.
