| Rescue organizations in the San Antonio, Texas area? I'm wondering if anyone has some recommendations for yorkie rescues in the San Antonio area. We have have found one yorkie we're interested in from Chris' Rescue Angels (which I have seen many people here recommend). Are there any other organizations you guys would recommend? In the past we have always just taken unwanted dogs straight from the owners who wanted to get rid of them (that's how we got Minnie), but now that we're looking for a yorkie we can't go that route since we'd probably be waiting a long time to find a yorkie. Can anyone recommend some other rescue organizations to look at? The other one we have been checking Austin Dog Rescue, but they only have males and I can't sell the rest of the family on a male.

| Yes, BabyGirl. That was one of the first places I looked (can't believe I didn't mention it). There is one guy available I really like from that site (actually, I really like them all and would surely fall in love meeting any of them), but it's going to take a bit of selling with the rest of the family to get a male. ARRGGGHHH. Frustration, but getting a dog is like launching missiles - everyone needs to turn their key first. Thank you for the recommendation, BabyGirl.

| Have you looked on Petfinder? Texas has so many yorkies and many of the all breed groups have them, too. You can search by zip code if you want to find one in your area.

| Put in an application for a young yorkie female today, but found out she is pending adoption to someone else. So it's a long-shot, but we really hope we get her if the other party backs out.

| Good luck! Hope you find your new baby soon. Don't get discouraged. I was looking and kept running into dead ends. Then my Mikki just fell in my lap! A lady had her for sale at a gas station. So know your furever baby is out there.

| Yeah, we just had Minnie drop into our laps too. Her owners abandoned her in the yard when they moved, and a neighbor took her. But Minnie was extremely aggressive towards other dogs, so the woman who rescued her couldn't keep her. She gave Minnie to us for free and it was some of the best 8 years of our lives with her (we think she was 4 or 5 when we got her).

| Do you still have Minnie? If so, do you think getting another is going to work out? If she was aggressive with other dogs previously I would be concerned that she may be again.

I would expect any reasonable person to jump on me about adopting another dog to share a home with a dog-aggressive dog, and I didn't make it clear that we lost Minnie.

I know with the ones I adopted, I wasn't really looking, but they just seemed to be there and one look at their picture on the Rescue Site, I just knew.
