| Foster/adoptive home needed for special needs Yorkie in Las Vegas The group I work with is seeking a qualified foster/forever home for a very special girl. Tika is about 5 years old, and as sweet as can be, very mellow and laid back, and loves to be with her people! Tika was rescued by a well meaning rescuer that didn't realize she was getting into a dog with a controllable but serious medical problems. The people giving her up where just angry that she suddenly started urinating all over their house Tika is diabetic. She couldn't help herself! Unfortunately her rescuer wasn't prepared to handle this, and has no knowledge about how to get a diabetic dog on the right track, and contacted the group I frequently work with and help to see if we could help her find a more qualified foster or a forever home for this sweet girl. Sadly since her previous owner ignored the signs of diabetes for so long and it's remained uncontrolled, Tika has also gone blind from cataracts that formed as a result of her diabetes. She has been seen by an opthamologist who will re-evaluate her once her diabetes is controlled to determine if there is anything that can be done to give her back any vision or not, likely because of the length of time these problems have been ignored Tika will be blind for the rest of her life. I am helping look for just the right foster or forever home for this special little girl. Tika is about 10 lbs, she was surrendered as a Yorkie, but the vets who have seen her agree that she is likely a Silkie/Yorkie mix. But all that matters is that this special girl needs a foster or forever home ASAP that can help get her on the right track! She is in a temporary foster who will get her started on insulin to get her diabetes regulated, but her temporary foster can't keep her long. If you're interested in fostering or adopting this sweet girl, please send me a message. Please note that while I'm sure some people in distant states may be tempted by this sweet girl, we're looking for foster/forever homes that are within driving distance of Las Vegas, or willing to buy a plane ticket and fly with her in the cabin. Due to her vision loss and needing her insulin and meals on schedule, and constant access to water, we absolutely will not do any long-distance transports or ship her, it's just to dangerous for a diabetic dog!

| Thanks Patti! I have a couple leads already - But so far nobody that's willing to care for her during the initial phase. I'd take her and get her diabetes regulated myself but between Moose with his problems, my 15 year old having rough days lately, my Aiyana's allergies being a challenge, I just don't feel like I can properly care for another special needs dog right now!
