| Took Summer to my vet today for her dressing to be removed and the incision checked. She had some purulent drainage but her incision looks terrific. My vet called the surgeon and he is not concerned about the drainage..he recommended that we keep it wrapped for now (the original instructions were to keep it off after two days). She will be going back to my vet daily for a dressing change. Here is a picture of her incision...pretty scary looking. I am glad I did not see it before they closed it...clearly that thing was way worse than any of us realized. Oh, you can also see her little ear that is missing. They shaved it..no clue why they shaved that one and not the other....maybe it was hanging in her wound. summer9-26-2011.jpg

| That poor little thing. That incision really looks like something closed. I can't imagine the pain this poor little soul has endured bc of the stupidity of ppl. Makes you wonder what the heck happened to her ear. It seems like this was not the first major injury poor Summer has endured. The stories she could probably tell.

| That picture is scary enough, can't imagine all she went thru with the injury and infection. Now that she is on the road to recovery, that can all heal and when she grows some hair back (including on the ear), she will be beautiful on the outside as well as on the inside again. Good luck and be well Sweet Summer!

| It kills me when I think of what she must have been through. In spite of it all, she is the most loving and sweet pup. She follows me everywhere and when I pick her up she puts her little head against my chest. It breaks my heart. That incision freaks me out...to think that infection was all through her neck like that. In the couple of weeks that she was being treated by my vet the left side looked like it was getting better. It was when she started getting open wounds on the other side that we knew it was brewing underneath it all. The vet at A&M said that dog bites are like that....they keep injecting under the surface. She said it is like looking at the tip of an iceberg when you see it....you just cannot see what is going on underneath it all. She also was so unbelievably emaciated... I don't know how she had the reserve to survive it all.

| Lady Jane: Will there be anything done to the person (I would not dare call her a lady)who allowed Summer to get in this horrible situation? It is just not right. |

| Nothing.. The problem is that the person who turned her in said it was not her dog. So...we really do not know. I am sure it was hers because she said it had just happened...that is impossible. It was too infected.

| When you order anything from Amazon.com, please go to Yorkie Haven Rescue and order from that Amazon link. The Yorkie Haven Rescue group will get a percentage of the cost back from Amazon, and you pay the same price is if you just used Amazon.com. Use their Amazon link for all Amazon purchases. It is a win win. |
