| It was a rough day for Gabby. She is very unhappy being crated. She barked and barked and barked....but if I give in it will just get worse. I have to bite the bullet for now. I am waiting for my son right now..he is bringing me another crate that I will put in my office so she can have one designated crate in my bedroom and one in my office. She refused to eat and that surprised me. She is incontinent...actually has diarrhea. Reminds me of when I first got her...I do hope she is not impacted again. It probably is due to her meds as she is on quite a few...they gave me Carafate for her to help her tummy. She also has absolutely no use of her hind legs...while this was expected, it is difficult to watch. I am praying really hard that this is temporary.

However, the fact that she is barking and barking...she is telling you of her displeasure! So, that's a good sign. I will pray so hard that not having use of her hind legs is only temporary. Sheila | |

| It's going to be a rough road. The meds might be causing the diahhrea, as you suggested, but stress could, too, I think. She's very stressed right now. I'm sure it will be very tough for you, too, to see her that way. I hope she will start to get used to the crate. That way she could rest some and she would be a lot better off then. Sending prayers.

| Any improvements this morning? I hope she settled down for the night and got some rest. (You too.) I have her sweet picture by my computer and sending positive thoughts her way.

| Gabby is much less agitated this morning! She slept all night in the crate...no barking. Right now, she is in a crate next to my desk watching me. I am having a problem expressing her bladder....going to run by my vet's office in a little while.

| I'm glad Gabby settled down for the night, but it is worrisome about her bladder. After effect of the anesthesia? |

| I was advised by the neurologist prior to surgery that Gabby would not be able to use her hind legs or control her bladder and bowels following this surgery; so this is not unexpected. She should regain those functions within 30 days. It is difficult to see her this way, but I did know it was coming.

| Linda, I know this must be exhausting for you...I know how I feel when my little ones just have a bug. I am so close to the surgeons (if it is GCVA) and I'm available to run a "pet taxi" for Gabby to and from if that would help you at all....I can transport her if that would you get any rest. I have a feeling you want to do it yourself, but I'm available to help if you need me! I'd be more than happy to drive out and bring her in or pick her up and bring her out to you if I ever need to....just a phone call away! ~~~ Valerie |

And, yes, I actually do like to do it myself so I can speak with the vets. Matty goes back there this Tuesday to see Dr. Beale. That little guy is amazing...he is not limping at all any more! I have never had a pup recover so quickly from knee surgery!!

| I'm glad little Gabby settled down, so she could get some rest - and you, too. I think she'll recover more quickly if she becomes more comfortable with being in the crate. That means less stress and all the better for her. You, too! Sending prayers for you both.
