Anyone in MAINE/Northern New England need help ASAP I just received a call from the Vacationland Kennel Club and they have 6 Yorkies needing to be rescued ASAP. I am calling all around with my contacts and can find homes for 3 rescues but still need 3 more. I know nothing about the dogs or their health at this point. I cannot take any in because I have 2 young pups who have not finished their vaccination series and I cannot chance that. Please contact if you know of anyone. Thank you. |
Have you contacted: Yorkies, Inc. |
I would call Cathie Cyr at Yorkies Inc. as well. She has a whole network of people that foster, she is in Taunton Mass. |
I can help with transport- If Cathie Cyr needs a hand, I'll offer one. |
I emailed her and will wait to hear from her. I just spoke with the lady that has them in hand and there are 4 girls and 2 boys. 1 boy with eye issues and that is all the info I have. The lady is going to groom them and give them distemper shots but they will need to be fixed as these were "breeder" dogs that had been kept in cages:mad: ... I have hustled to find homes of the 4 girls but no one to take in the boys:( as they have been stud dogs. None are housebroken but are very social and friendly. I will be having the girls spayed & Rabies and the people taking them will pay for that as an adoption fee. I feel aweful as there are also Maltese and Pekes there also:( These people thought that they would make gobs of money with these dogs... and wanted to retire on the dogs labors, how disgusting. |
Hi.... I am with Yorkies Inc.... I will see what we can do but it is only Cathie and I that run Yorkies Inc with occasional fostering help from someone who has adopted in the past.... We would need more info on the dogs (ages and size) if we are going to ask someone who has adopted from us in the past to foster them....both Cathie and I are at our limit right now for fosters... and I also have a 10 week old puppy here that still needs more shots. Would there be any transport help to get the dogs down to us? I work full time and the next two days Cathie is vetting our special needs dog Butternut (he is seeing a few specialists) while after work tomorrow I am vetting two others for shots. I called Cathie to check her email and she was going to... |
Tae1107, I am going to Freeport on Saturday....to do some shopping. I would be happy to pick up one of the dogs and bring them back to Mass. Cathie is only like forty minutes from me. I actually know Jon...he has been to my house for work. Let me know what you need and I would be happy to help out in any way I can. |
Can you give more info on the ages of the dogs? My dog trainer runs a small rescue and might be wiling but I need more info to run it by her. |
I will try to get more information. The lady that has the dogs right now is just holding them to groom and then needs to place them ASAP. She has only had them on premise for a few days and knows very little. Both males are smaller sized she says and one has an eye issue. Both are intact. The place they came from states they have had shots in the past and the dogs appear healthy besides they eye issue. The groomer lady was waiting to cut them down because they are in a shed type place with heat but not ideal. She also is trying to help with the Pekes and the Maltese and doing what she can. The owner was supposed to call me this evening with more info on ages and shot records....will update as soon as I can. |
Keep us posted, I would be happy to transport either to Mass/Rhode Island I live close enough to both to help out. |
I just sent you a PM - yorkielady06 May have some help for the Yorkie Males, the Maltese and the Pekes :) |
yorkies Hi, Sent you a pm. Was wondering if you had more info on them and also what is the latest she can hold them till? Also where in Maine are they? Just so we can coordinate getting them to us.... my email address is krk1107@aol.com Kerri |

We may be able to take some as well, if the Maltese and Pekes still need rescue, we might be able to help with them, but it would also matter exactly how long they can be held somewhere and if we can coordinate transport down closer to NY. |
I will have the Yorkies tomorrow evening. The Maltese and Pekes will all be delivered to Conn. soon by these people. There are many Japanese Chins...around 20 of them!!! Those have no placement at this point now and the 2 boy Yorkies...thanks for all the help so far |

Do the Maltese and Pekes have homes or a rescue to go to? And they are being delivered to Connecticut? Do the Jap Chins have homes or a rescue to go to? Do you need a rescue for the 2 Yorkie boys? Where are they now and where are they going to be brought to? |
Ok will try my best. Yorkies Inc. will hopefully be taking both male yorkies to foster and home. The 4 females will go (2 local rescue, 2 to homes for forever) yorkies. The Pekes will go to National Peke rescue in Conn. The Maltese have a rescue also. The Chins....10-15 need placement. The owner will retain 15-20 of them?? but this is the way it has been worked out, as he plans to show:rolleyes:. I have not met any of these people. It was a call out from one kennel club to others and fellow yorkie person and I have been working day and night to get the homes and rescues that we could. The lady (Peg) that has some of the dogs on her property at the moment, is the one organizing from that end and she only has had them for a few days. She groomed the Pekes and Malteses yesterday, the Yorkies today and will call with whatever she finds with them. She did say the boys were the smallest of the 6 and that one female was oversized with what she knows of Yorkies. The Chins...some have eye issues but no clue as to extent. Some are oversized. Most are quite friendly but a few are somewhat shy. She is having her vet give distempers at a cost of 10 bucks each to help with this effort. The owner was supposed to call me last night with more details but did not. He was told he MUST call when he got home from work tonight so I am hoping that happens as the homes that have been set up would like some info on ages also. |

Yes they will. I am hoping that it will be the 15 number or more as the guy has 35 of them. I know that puts a strain on the already strained fosters but I have to keep thinking about the dogs. I will do what I can and be the halfway house for a day here or there. I can drive some distance but not more than an hour or so each way as I have my own here with one pup that has only had 2 of his 3 puppy shots... The 2 Yorkie males will hopefully fit in the belly bands I have here made up ahead. I have small and medium sized and they will have them on here and when they leave also to assist with house training but neutering them will be mandatory. |

Just spoke with Theresa Leatherwood ? and she is going to work from her end. She states that there are some fosters on the east coast and will be working on it also. I told her that maybe some Yorkie people on here may help with transport if needed and I could try from up here to get them close to the Maine/NH border....thank you and it shows the power of people coming together in times of need. |

THANK YOU for your hard work and efforts :animal-pa Your a Doggie Angel :animal36 |
Just wish I could do more:(... but I know each little bit helps each and every one of these babies to hopefully finding the best homes that they deserve. Thank you again for pointing me in the right direction. |
How far are you from the NH border...and what part of NH (town) would you be able to drive to if needed? I know some people have offered to help us with a transport but would like to get an idea of the driving time for them. I am near Boston so you can use that as a reference point for travel time... Thank you.... |
I am approx. 2 hours from the Maine/NH border |
Hi, If you are going to go to the Fitchburg Show we can probably maybe even meet you at the show.... we could meet outside, and pick up the two boys. Cathie was thinking of going to the show... or we can meet along the way... So we are all set to take the two males... Kerri Yorkies Inc Yorkies Inc. Placement Service |
That is awesome!! I just spoke with the 2 people here and it is a go for the 3 females. So there is still one left. Maybe the Yorkie Rescue 911 could help with her?? I will email them... |

I have sent out some alerts, but need to hear back from you with some more info. Nicole - Y911R |
I live in Maryland. I am willing to foster any if needed. I do not know if you have any one on the East coast interested in any , but I do rescue and foster of small breeds. I have 6 and 4 are yorkies but I can foster if needed. If you need any help in this area just pm me. thanks |
Offer still stands to transport any/all if necessary. |
Will take anyone up on the transport...trying to get a female to a rescue in NY or to the lady willing to foster in Maryland... Info on the girls is...all were born in 2005, new haircuts done, de-flead, ears were full of gunk on all..so the groomer pulled out hair and cleaned them but they may need yeast medicine or mite medicine. They are getting their DHPP today at 10 am. All are under 7 pounds and very good natured and friendly. Groomer states they were awesome with grooming and even with nail cutting. They are supposively potty pad/litter box trained but the groomer disagrees with this. Not sure what the 3 people will chose of the girls but they all have pink feet with slight swelling from being caged. 2 seem to be coming into heat so spays need to be set up for 2 weeks from now and all need their teeth cleaned.... That is what I know. I am willing to transport to Fitchburg, Mass on Sat...or anyway along the way on the highway.. |
