| Little Old Yorkie In Miami There is an adorable little old yorkie in the Miami Dade Animal Shelter, has no teeth. Is there a rescue down there? I don't know if the dog is a male or female. It just makes me sick to think of a little senior in a kill shelter.

| Oh, I hope the baby goes to a rescue. It looks very tiny. Why doesn't it have any teeth? So sad! |

| I found out more about the little guy. They are calling him Geezer because his age is estimated to be 15 yrs. He has cataracts, but is super sweet. I found out about him from my sister. She decided she wanted to work with animals instead of in the lumber business and is in her second week of work there. Her last day is Friday. She just can't take it. Yesterday they also got three chihuahua puppies in that my sister said were gorgeous. When a rescue person came in to see about them, my sister couldn't find them. Turns out they tested positive for parvo and were euthanized. There are hundreds of dogs at this shelter. They close to the public at 7pm, and around 6 or 6:30 pm the trucks come back to the shelter just loaded with dogs. They have to process them, get them fed and watered before leaving at night. Why is it this problem with pet over population doesn't seem to ever get any better? Why do people just get too lazy to spay/neuter their pets, have to let their dog have ONE litter, are too macho and just can't take the balls off their male dogs, want their kids to see the miracle of birth (almost an oxymoron, huh?), or just can't be educated to care? Why can't one of the most educated and advanced countries in the world not make a real dent in the number of animals, healthy beautiful, sweet animals that get needlessly euthanized every year?

| I sent a message to the National YT rescue. I got the info from the sitcky that's posted. It doesn't really provide any information about what region or area a rescue covers. How can you tell which rescues to notify about a dog like this?

| I am happy to say that Geezer is going to his new home tomorrow, thanks to United Yorkie Rescue. They came to the shelter today and knew someone who adopts senior dogs. The person from UYR contacted the woman, who in turn contacted my sister, and the rest is history. I also had a wonderful YTer contact me and say she would take Geezer if no one would take him. Carmen was even willing to have him flown to Baltimore, MD, if need be on Pet Airways. How gosh darn sweet and wonderful is that? My sister really felt this little guy deserved better than the shelter. He is 4.5 lbs and an absolute love. He has stolen her heart and made her his guardian angel while at the shelter. She is making his meals and making sure he eats them. She is keeping an eye on him and giving him bits of love when she can.

| I am so glad he found a home. OMG that is the cutest picture though. Made me smile. From the picture he looked like a happy little guy. You know how some dogs look real sad in the shelters - scared and sad eyes. This little fell actually looked happy. I'm sure he is bringing someone some joy. |
