| My daughter and I got our first yorkie mix from a local shelter. He was 6 lbs and his prior owner kept him on a chain outside all the time. He now has run the house. We have had him about 1 year and found a purebreed yorkie that needed a home, she is from a puppymill. The only reason the puppymill gave her up was they lost all of her last litter and she was no use to them. Makes me so mad that she lives 6 years in a small kennel. Well now she has run of our home. Opps sorry, our yorkie mix is Jethrow and our yorkie is Missy Ellie Mae. They did not get along at first but now are doing much better. Missy Ellie Mae is so jealous, she does not want my daughter or I to love Jethrow just her, but we tell her we have two hands to love 2 babies. I took Missy Ellie Mae to the vet for a check and she is very healthy. We are one big happy family now!!!

| Thanks I know a friend that is looking for one. But I clicked one of the links and these facts came up on the Pet notes....1 and 2 really bothered me. This is not true for all yorkies and definitely no true for any I have met. 1. Yorkies do not get along well with small children. 2. Yorkies are very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. 3. You will NOT find a puppy in Yorkie Rescue. 4. It is rare for us to get a FEMALE into rescue. 5. We do not adopt to anyone over the age of 75. 6. There is no such thing as a tea cup Yorkie so don't be misled by such a description. |

| I have had the same problem with some yorkie breeders who refuse to sell to me because i have two kids! i believe every dog including yorkies deserves to have a loving family, kids included! As long as you teach your children how to handle and treat your pup, and always supervise with youngins...

| I applaud what all the rescue groups do for these poor innocent babies, but I had submitted an application to one of the yorkie rescues groups and was denied simply because I lived in an apartment (no fenced in yard). I admit I was upset because it was not stipulated in the application and mind you these applications are detailed and long to fill out and my heart was really broken when I was denied. I tried talking to one of the foster moms to find out why and try to appeal my case. I wrote back using capital letters on certain words about my frustration not that I was yelling at them. They also said they didn't approve homes with small children. I said that I was a single adult and that it would be with me the majority of the day and night. Still to no avail. Mind you I am not an explosive type of person nor do I like associating with that type either. My home would be a loving caring home especially since I was not able to have children of my own. So the dog would be my life companion, baby angel. He/she would be so spoiled and loved. I will not give up hope to getting my yorkie someday soon. The size I am looking for should be in the 5 to 7lb range boy or girl and have a pleasant disposition and smooth straight coat if possible. I know my baby angel is somewhere out there waiting for me to come. |
