Looking for a good home for female Yorkie in Champaign, IL

It is not up to me who gets this pup. I was merely asking questions.
I don't know you at all.
IF this were my pup, I would be doing all kinds of reference checks with the very most important one being a vet check on anyone interested in her.
I strongly advise anyone who is rehoming their pup to alter him/her prior to placement for very obvious reasons.
One is to avoid the pup ending up with a bad breeding situation.
Also of interest is that it is better to spay prior to the first heat cycle. Each heat cycle increases the risk of mammary tumors. There also is a risk of pyometria although that is usually in older unspayed pups who have not been bred.
Anyway....it is better to spay for more than just one reason!

I think you should get her. Just talking to you a couple of times the past couple of days and how you followed through on getting Blossom (a thread I posted about Friday) into the arms of a reputable rescue today, I know you only want the best for this one.

It takes more than 20 dollars to raise a dog. I hope you got pet insurance.

Yes, I have pet insurance on all my dogs. I also have money set aside for pet emergencies. I learnt that lesson when I was dealing with Max.

HUH????? Where did she say anything about it only costing $20 to take care of this baby? I believe she is saying she can take advantage of the reservation bringing in the Humane Society and have the spay done for only $20. Did you see the part where she is going to put the rest in a pet emergency fund. Most people haven't even thought of an emergency fund. I think this lady will make a fabulous home and seems to have a clear understanding of how much it costs to care for, not one, but several pets!

Pet insurance does not cover spays? I would think so! You might want to investigate this.

OK...I don't even know this lady, but I sure as heck would not give anyone a pup of mine without doing reference checks....the most important one being a vet check to SEE how they treat their pups.

This is the internet and people can tell you anything you want to hear...heck they do that in person! I never knew how many liars there were until I started getting involved in rescue.

We all must be very careful not to assume that all people are ok...think about this..........

Now...I am NOT suggesting anything is wrong with this woman..I don't even know her, but to make a blanket statement about someone you have never met is mind blowing and naive to me.

Can I just say WOW! It is amazing how others read and assume information that is not in a post.

Please tell me how you came to the conclusion a person is a good home. How did I misread it? I was not being negative with you...merely advising you and anyone else that what we see/read/hear is not always real.

Since it is a public forum about rescue, and since I am somewhat knowledgeable about rescue, I feel an obligation to assist anyone rehoming their pups in any way that I can. I owe it to the voiceless little pups.

Mikey got way too rough for my yorkie, Misty. And he sure didn't look like a Yorkie. My vet said that he looked more like a shephard than anything else. Anyways, after catching him with his jaws around Misty's neck, that was it. I could never leave both of them home together if I had to leave the house. So, I placed an ad in our weekly shopper for Mikey. I got a call from a gal that lived maybe 15 miles from me. We talked and got to know each other since I don't beleive in just getting rid of a dog. I visited her house without Mikey and met the family, 3 children ages 4 to 8 and saw what they had set up for Mikey. When I was comfortable that they could take care of him and his needs, I brought Mikey to them. I was given an open door invitation and have spoken with her every couple of weeks. Mikey has grown bigger and has the run of the house and alternates sleeping with the kids. This family loves and cares for this dog.

So, if this pup grows up to look like another breed and develops any behavioral issues, you will rehome her again?

You know, I think people can change, lots of us on YT felt so sorry for Max, his lack of medical treatment and his neglect when you allowed him to jump up and down off the couch with 2 broken legs. Everything I am saying is in your post about Broken Legs. With that being said, I do believe people can change from a tragic event in their lives. I hope you have put aside funds for your 3 dogs you have now and this new one. Its a rescues job to check the person out thoroughly including a home check and a vet check that includes regular dentals. Please research your vet and make sure they specialize in small breeds, and their choice for anesthesia. Pablo is going in on tuesday for neuter and dental, $600 dollars. He will have heart monitor, IV fluids, heated op. table and pain meds after surgery. Its not cheap but I have done my research. Good Luck to you.
