A little over a month ago I made the decision of getting a little yorkie puppy. With a bit of time I've realized that the valuable time and love she needs I just can't give to her. I'm a recent college graduate and thought adopting a puppy would be the perfect thing, but I have gotten myself in way over my head and I need HELP!
I received her from a breeder near Hillsboro, Oregon and I have all the paperwork that goes along with her and she is getting her second of three combination shots this Saturday. I have thought about calling the breeder and getting her advice on the situation..
I don't know I guess I am kind of just stuck and not really sure where to go from here. Thought someone on here may have some advice on what to do. Thank you.

I'm sorry to find that you are in a bit over your head with your puppy. They can be quite a handful, yes? As for your question, Often the breeder will take them back and is often a cluase of the contract that you signed when you got her. Try giving him/her a call. However, assuming that your puppy is not from a puppy mill. If you are unsure, please read up on the many threads as to what constitutes a puppy mill. Please do not take that the wrong way. I made this mistake myself with my purchase. Unfortunately, I found out too late. If you find that your puppy is from a puppy mill, posting in the Rehome section is a very good start. Good luck!

I'd contact the breeder, see if you can return her and proceed from there.

If this is a Caring and Responsible Breeder, than I would contact them.

If this is a BYB or a Puppymill or Pet Store type of place, then I would #1 contact a Reputable Yorkie Rescue if you are thinking of surrendering her, or #2 try to place her yourself

Aww - I feel so bad for you. I hope the breeder will take her back. Otherwise, please take the time to check out anyone wanting to purchase her. I hope you won't sell her for breeding. Good Luck and please let us know what happens.

Honestly I don't think I can give her away...I made the decision to get her and I've wanted a Yorkie for so long now, i guess just didn't realize she would be so much work and STRESS!! But I am willing to endure it, because just seeing her sleeping I couldn't dare get rid of her. Thanks for everyone's input. I'm sure i'll be back on here daily for advice with raising her!! It must get easier right??

YES is DOES get easier.

Right now she is still a Baby - just like human babies. Soon she will need to be spayed, she start teething (biting-chewing), and she'll start to grow and calm down a bit. It will be a few months for each stage, but after she gets to be about a year to 1.5 yrs, she will finally be pretty set on all the training, etc...

Oh, I'm so happy to hear this! I know how you feel though. At first it is overwhelming. We had our Lab for 12+ years and I had totally forgotten what it was like to have a puppy! A few weeks after we got Mia I was definately questioning what I had done. It does get worse before it gets better - but just remember that they are babies and look to us for everything. Be patient and enjoy this time with her. And most importantly - be consistant! Oh, and take pictures - LOTS of pictures!!!

Thank you for saying this. I didn't want sjonasson to think this happens in a few weeks. It will be a good 1.5 years! I'm half way there...WOO HOOO! If it's any concellation, sjonasson...you are NOT alone. There are many of us on here with new puppies and feeling the pains. But there is much joy in owning also and it looks like you're beginning to see that.

They are a lot of work, but the rewards they give you make it so worth it all.

I agree it can seem like a lot of work but the rewards will be more than you ever imagined. My Bella Mia still does things that just make me love her more and more. She just wants to make our family happy. She is almost 2 and still wanting to learn new tricks. She just learned how to sing (very loudly

). I could not picture not having her in my life.
Come here for advice the people are great and you will better knowing your not alone in your adventure

to raise a wonderfully yorkie.

I know what you are feeling. I think every first time puppy owner has had those days of being so overwhelmed they almost have buyer's remorse. But then you look into their face and see that unconditional love and realize, you are willing to do just about anything for them.

There is a vast amount of information on this forum to help through almost any problem you may have from housetraining to illnesses. I would also utilize your breeder if you have good trust in her. They can give valuable experience to help you through some of the early rough spots. I think once the house training is on track and they stop chewing up our shoes, things do settle down into a nice routine. About that time, you will get an overwhelming desire for another Yorkie pup! And it starts all over again! LOL!

Welcome to Yorkie Talk! Don''t hesitate to ask if you do run into problems! Sharing pictures is always appreciated too. We love to look at Yorkies!

I must say....I was very overwhelmed when I purchased my Yorkie. This is my first inside dog and it has been a true challenge. After the first few weeks I was wondering what the heck I had done. I've had Harley for 6 months now and he is the love of my life. I couldn't imagine life without him. There is no way I could ever give him away although I threaten to when he misbehaves :>). I think it will get easier for you but it does take time to get adjusted to a new puppy.
