WTF is WRONG WITH PPL ~ Saratoga County Animal Shelter, Ballston Spa, NY 3 Attachment(s) I know these 2 are Maltese - But their story is heartbreaking and I am soooooooooo pissed  My god, how in the world does a family to this?????   They were good for 13 and 10 YEARS - BUT now they are tossed out like garbage  ************************************************** ***** Romey (M) is 13 years old and Goldel (F) is 10 years old. They have always been in a home together and cannot be separated. They are both housebroken, good with older kids and other animals. Their owners brought them in because they had a new baby. Romey and Godel are very scared being at the shelter and would like nothing more than to be in a warm, loving home again. Adopt a Maltese: Romey & Goldel: Petfinder This pet is up to date with routine shots. This pet is already house trained. Saratoga County Animal Shelter Ballston Spa, NY (518)885-4113 |
ughh People are PATHETIC! How sad. I wish I could take them I'd give them so much love. they are just precious!!! One day I swear I am going to have like 10 dogs from rescuing them!!! :( Poor babies! |
I know this isn't the only case like this out there - but how in the world do you own 2 pets for 13 YEARS and then dump them at the Shelter    |
that totally sucks! How can you do that after having them in your family and in your life and just treat them like disposable property?!?! that's crazy |
That's so sad. I can't believe some people! |
gosh.. My dogs are my kids, my life! I miss them when I am gone during the day at work! I would NEVER just dump them off. What heartless people. I mean they didn't even give the dogs a chance with the baby I bet!!! |
How can they just turn over their Pups? It's one thing to not be able to spend time and attention to the pups, but they knew they were pregnant they had nine months to find their pups a new home. The pups must be so scared! It's crazy cause most kennels won't let you leave a dog with them at those ages cause it's too scary for them, I can't imagine how heartless you have to be to do this. |
This is something I just don't understand. I once saw an email with the usual we have had our beloved dog so and so for 13 years and recently had a new baby. We just don't have time for him anymore, and we aren't sure we can trust the two of them together, blah, blah, blah. He is up-to-date on shots, and we are asking a small re-homing fee...then at the bottom of the email is a picture of the new baby that they are wanting to rehome, and they are keeping the dog. Hee! It's obviously a joke, but it was a refreshing twist to me on what seems to be a common problem! |

people just get to where they dont care anymore or dont want to pay for taking care of their pets anymore espically now with the way the economy getting how it is excuses but when it comes down to it -selfish |
This is what I don't get. That kid is going to be around for longer than 13 years. What kind of parents will they really be. |
I'd dump the kid before I'd dump my dog :D;) JUST KIDDING!! But seriously.. |
So sad! Our Sasha was in the same situation. Her previous owners had her for 13 1/2, maybe 14 years and then decided they didn't have time for her. I've emailed them updates on how she is and never even receive a response back...people are crazy sometimes... |
That is very, very sad. I hope that someone will give them both a loving home soon. |
I think it is simply pathetic! |

I so wish they were closer I would take them in a heartbeat. :( |
That's awful. I can't even fathom doing such a thing - seriously. |
How sad. I wish I were closer, I would scoop them up in a heartbeat! |
How in the he!! do you dump your best friend like that:mad::mad::mad::mad: ?????????? What goes around comes around. They will get what they deserve in the end.... Those poor babies don't look like they would have harmed a baby much less a flee.... I can't stand reading things like that, "we just had a baby" or "we moved and the place does not allow pets". Well, maybe they should have thought about the future a little harder before getting a pet or how about moving to a pet friendly home???? If you own a pet why wouldn't you be looking for a pet friendly place to begin with??? Okay, stepping off now....;) |
It is so sad. I volunteer at a shelter and they just had a 16 year old little poodle mix come in but she was adopted pretty fast. So many people turn their dogs in saying they bit their kid or someone and legally the shelter has to put it in their record and as we get to know the dogs they are the sweetest things and never tried to bite but people label these dogs as an excuse to dump them. They have asked us volunteers to do write ups on the ones we walk so the potential adoptors will know their true personality. It is so sad to see how scared some of these babies are and just want to be held when you take the out(I help out mainly in the small dog room). I just don't get people and ther are far too many people out there that don't see them as family members and can just drop them off without a look back. |
That is so sad so what happens when the baby is 13 are they gonna send it to foster care. All my animals are my babies i could never do that. |
I wish I hadn't opened this up. I can't stopy crying...I wish I had the resources, I would snatch them up in a minute. Nicole, let's take a day trip to Saratoga and bring them home!! (I wish...) This is why I love dogs more than people. |
OMG..:eek:How anyone can do this is beyond comprehension!! That kid better watch out for those 2 parents of his...He's liable to end up on Craigslist when he becomes a "LOVELY" teenager!!! We live in a disposable Society who think everything is allowed to be thrown away. Pets,Kids, and Marriages mean nothing to some people nowadays...Poor Babies, I Pray that they get their forever homes quickly....:hands::goodluck::xfingers: |
This is just really sad...I just don't get it..My dogs are my kids and always will be my kids..whether I have skin kids or not. We love them sooo much. And I grew up with dogs in my household and my parents never gave up our dogs because they had kids..sigh..they are part of our family ... |
I hope their kid is very bad! haha J/K. Watch..there kid is going to find pics of these dogs one day and be like "mommy, daddy, where are these dogs" and when they the kid "oh we just dropped them off at a shelter b/c we popped you out" I hope the kid is mad at them!!!! :) I am such a sweet angel! |
Those are beautiful dogs. How heartbreaking, and cruel for the owners to do to their animals. I do n ot understand whatsoever their thinking? They could have rehomed them ! Easily! Gived the dogs a life, for goodness sakes! Not dump them off at their age at the animal shelter:mad: Makes me sick. After the dogs for so long, it is a heartless thing to do, and to me criminal. I Rehomed my Cocketiels on moday, for the very reason. Not for having a new baby, but because I was not caring for them right, or spending time with them much, and felt that they deseerved a better family! They had a very, very nice cage, and i MADE certain my birds went to a great, loving family! This is what pissess me off about these lovely dogs. What cold hearted a**holes to do what they did. I do believe in Karma. They will get their own. |
ALL of you are so right.... These dogs are BETTER off without them, BUT the owners SHOULD HAVE put the effort into finding them the PERFECT home - NOT - let them sit at the Animal Shelter. OR they could have at least searched for a Maltese Rescue - OR - even a Small Breed Rescue. My gosh 13 and 10 and now you just don't care where they wind up...or how scared and confused they are right now...I am blown away :( You are right though...WHAT COMES AROUND - DOES GO AROUND and Judgement Day for Them is NOT going to be nice ;) |

Whole heartedly agree. Once again, the Willis piece "How Could You" is exhibited. |
I will never for the life of me understand some people. I could never just toss any of my babies into a shelter. My Snooter is an older boy (turns 15 April 27th) and I couldn't imagine just dumping him off after he's sepnt his entire life with me. Snoot would never make it in a place like that. I know without a doubt he would give up on life. He would be so heart broken and scared to death. How anyone could do this to these two precious babies after having them their entire life blows my mind. Bless their little hearts and I hope someone can give them a loving home. |
I think this is sad and something I would NEVER do but i just wanted to say that I live pretty close to this shelter and if I can help in any way, let me know. I would love to be part of finding these little ones a good home that they deserve. And really, I think sometimes, things work out for the best and maybe that means that these little ones are going to live out the rest of their lives in the type of home they really deserve! |
