| I'm not saying this is the case but I would like to warn people that not all rescues are true rescues. When you see a rescue that has a lot of puppies and not too many if any older or sick dogs that is a red flag. Unfortunanately, there are some advertising on petfinder as a rescue when in fact they buying their puppies from mills/auctions and pricing them higher to make $$. They will claim to have rescued them but the truth is that a true rescue will not have a load of puppies on a regular basis. PLEASE before adopting check the rescue out and make sure that you are not unintentionally supporting a mill. One thing with this rescue is that I read on their site and I quote "We are no-kill, but for that reason, we do not take anything and everything. While we would love to be able to help every dog at risk--including those whose people have decided for one reason or another they no longer fit into their lives, that is just not the case. We do not have the space or volunteers for that. We are forced to be somewhat selective. " Again, I'm not saying that this particular rescue is not legite but reading this says that they are only going to take dogs or pups they know they can place and to me that is not a true rescue. So please, check out a rescue you plan on dealing with. Another thing you will see is the fees in a lot of cases witll be high. Normal fee through a rescue which will include a spay or neuter and vetting will be between $400 0 $450. If the rescue does not include a spay or neuter then that too is a sign that they are not a reputable rescue. Elaine |
