| Silkipoo Elmhurts, IL I just happened to be looking in the Petfinder classifieds and saw this ad. It is just heartbreaking. If it wasn't for the dominance issue I would take her in a heartbeat. The ad was posted on Christmas Day Id: 1742896 Owner: Elmhurst, IL Name: Shyla Age: Young Sex: Female Size: Small I am so sad to have to put my Shlya up for adoption but I feel it is the responsible thing to do. Shyla is an affectionate, smart, and high energy dog. She is 15 lbs, tan color, and resembles benji. Unfortunately, I do not feel I am the best dog owner for her given my busy lifestyle and her needs for consistency, behavior management , and a "dominant" owner. She is territorial and fearful of strangers and children. When scared or being protective, she has been known to lurch at people, growl, and bite. She has never seriously injured anyone and only acts aggressive when she is scared or being protective. Once she knows a person is safe she is the sweetest dog. My alternative for rehoming her with a responsible, dog experienced owner would be to put her to sleep which I do not want to do. To ensure that she is rehomed with someone who can take good care of her, a $75 adoption fee is requested.
