| Can I just ask if he's such a nice guy then why he would leave these pups outside and not in his house? Really I'm not trying to be fresh at all but I just can't see how anyone especially a "good" breeder would leave his pups outside. I hope it works out for these babies. Elaine |

OK their in a 12 by 12 chain link enclosure with a large house attached to his house and hooked up to his air conditioning. The have misters for the outside part as it gets really hot. I actually asked him why they don't live in the house and he was afraid they would bond to him or him to them. Time got away from him and boom they kept getting older. Normally they are in the house and out at 12 to 16 weeks to new homes. Also he only has the one unfixed male (the father/stud) and with 4 other males growing up in the house may have caused fighting. My problem is they have been on puppyfind for quite awhile now and no one has gotten them even at the great price. I worry they are not going to get as much love as I would want them to have. Maybe because I'm with mine 24/7 I care. Spanky has been with us a week last Wednesday and it is so cute how he follows me around like I will dissapear if he looks away. I'm hoping he will be more secure later. I just think all dogs need to live inside the house but I don't see Neil as being BAD in this case. Believe me I'm the kind that jumps in and has a fit if dogs are mistreated so I did ask lots of question. Neil is getting married to a 57 YR old and hopes to breed again.

| Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Did you meet Neil or is this information about his house and layout being relayed to you?? I do not beleive the dogs are outside because they are afraid of "attaching" to the puppies. Puppies, especially small breeds, do not deserve to be outside--there is just way too many things that can happen outside. Is this the only breed he has???? And just another thought, there are 3 clubs and just as many forums that Neil could have contacted about his puppies. Something is not right here. I know you want to "rescue" these puppies but where are the sire and the dam to these puppies. Is he going to have more litters? When you "rescue" dogs from unsavory environments, doesn't it encourage the people to repeat their behavors--after all, they were able to sell the puppies. |

As I said: Time got away from him and boom they kept getting older. Normally they are in the house and out at 12 to 16 weeks to new homes. Also he only has the one unfixed male (the father/stud) and with 4 other males growing up in the house may have caused fighting. He may breed again after he gets married in Oct. but I didn't get too personal. I think I am a good judge of people and he contacted me three times to check on Spanky since I got him. On the other hand Darla's breeder hasn't even sent for the papers yet and after many requests I still haven't gotten the promised pictures. And she seemed very nice and I spent over three hours at her house in two visits. You just never know for sure. Oh I also had 4 references from people that got dogs from Neil. One person who I forgot who now, said she had seen his home before he had the dog run built last year but said it was an awesome environment and he showed her the plans for the run he was putting in. It was done for his dogs to be able to go out and be safe but they live in the house with him.

| Thank you everyone who remained supportive, but it turns out I am not going to be getting one of these guys afterall. Its just not the right time for me. I appreciate your concerns Dee and Elaine, but as Jeri said, Neil is not a bad breeder and I may have made it sound worse than it was and that is my fault.
