| Could this be a Biewer? A friend sent me a link to this little guy in Arizona but I have decided not to pursue adopting right now. It says it is a mix of a yorkie and perhaps a Shih Tzu. Could this be a Biewer? Adopt Teenie - Shih Tzu, Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie Dog ~ Kelly

| I think SO! she was a stray, so they think she is a mix - but she does look a biewer - someone is probably sick looking for her - look at that unbelievable price!

| SO CUTE!!! She's so pretty-looks like a Biewer to me too, but something in her face looks like a mix? I'm not sure?

| Do we have some Biewer breeders here that can determine if she is a mix or a biewer by looking at her?

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I think she's a mix. They mention her age as being old...biewers were only imported to the US since 2003. Her head isn't tri colored and her face doesn't resemble a biewer.

| Biewers have many different 'looks' just like Yorkies do so she may not be a mix...she may also be a Parti. I have 3 sisters (Biewers) from the same litter and they have different looks and my male looks different from them. Also, she may not be old...Biewers seem to look older than they really are...mine are 8 months now and people think they're a full grown dog, not a puppy. It's a shame her owners didn't have her microchipped so she could be returned to them. Last edited by my2boyz; 05-22-2008 at 12:20 PM. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Since she was at a county shelter prior to being rescued...her age was probably guessed by a veterinarian. They are usually pretty accurate. As far as being a parti...her tail isn't docked....not proof postive but someone breeding parti's would have known to dock the tails.

| Not to argue but, you're right, a docked tail isn't proof positive that it's a parti...the tail is often left at the request of the new owner if they're on a waiting list. More and more Yorkie buyers are requesting the tail be left now too. I hope she finds a new home soon...with someone who will microchip her so she won't be lost again. |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | She could be a parti or a Biewer--ears are down--this might be a good candidate for the Mars testing....I hope she finds a good home. |

| My take on this dog is that it is probably a Biewer due to the silky coat I see. A Biewer that is mixed with a Shih Tzu has a very fluffy coat. Also there is a Biewer breeder in Arizona about 2 hours away from Phoenix (sad the dog was not micro-chipped). To my knowledge there are no Parti breeders in Arizona. Biewers come with many different looks and if you have a breeder that doesn't really know what they are doing this face/muzzle could happen. I also believe I see a little tan in the face and whomever owned this dog let its ears grow and flop down. The Parti's and the Biewers original beginnings came from the same kennel out of England and both dogs are the same. The US breeders took the breed one way and the Germans took it another way. A dock tail is also not an indicator as a Biewer breeder in California was docking the tails of his dogs. This little guy has already been fixed and is in a rescue situation so he will find a great little home and not produce any more Biewers like him.
