Several in kill shelter in Osceola MO - CAN ANYONE HELP City of Osceola There are 5 females and 1 male in this shelter. It looks like a breeder took them there (JMO). But they all look so sad and so SCARED. I am not far from Osceola and I can be part of a train to get these babies into rescue somewhere. CAN ANYONE HELP? I am not a member of a rescue group ( I need to look into this) but this is a KILL shelter and most ppl from around here won't adopt these babies because they do not look like the calendar type yorkie. CAN ANYONE HELP? PLEASE??? |

Yes there are pictures on petfinder.com just go to the shelter button put in MO for state and OSCEOLA for city and you will see all their pictures. |
May I cross Post your thread? |
I can call the animal rescue I got Lilly from and would offer to foster one of the girls for them, but how is the $200 adoption fee going to work? I have to be honest if they are in a kill shelter how is it they are asking $200 adoption fee? Not trying to make a big deal but I live in NJ and I know the shelters do not get anywhere near this amount for an adoption and yes their adoptions too include spay/neuter, shots etc. Heck the rescue I help only charged $400 for Lilly and she as a 13 week old puppy, vetted, spayed and had her shots. I'm just not understanding a $200 adoption fee from a "Kill Shelter." Will they be willing to hand over the Yorkies to a rescue or will they still want the $200 adopt fee? Elaine |
P.S. I also see that the photos are dated January 1, 2008. Is the date wrong on the photos or have these poor dogs been in this shelter this long? Elaine |
commodities Don't worry anyone! These babies will NOT be euthanized... shelters are a business, so like any business they "advertise" Yorkies, Havanese, Shih Tzu's to get you in to make application, and to buy another dog...a bigger dog..... All of these yorkie babies are usually gone the minute they get to a county shelter. They will not euthanize $$$. Choice: If they can get $200 or $15, they will take the $200................ County shelters are different from Humane Societies or shelters and there are bad ones in both. To me, this looks like a "lost leader" enterprise. It costs $$$ to "advertise" on Petfinder.. that why I have little use for PF...it is just an advertising medium. |

I hope you are right but you do not live in MO and so don't understand the VERY HIGH euthenasia rate in this state PARTICULARLY in this part of MO. So i cannot agree with you whole heartedly. |
bumping again... Only looking to see if there is any help that can be given to these yorkies.... |
Bumping again.... keep it going. |
I'm all for getting them out and trying to find a home for them. Lets see if we can figure out a way to do it. I can donate the 200.00 for one until it gets a permante home at 200.00. Any other takers? |
I could foster 2 until we could find them good homes. Or my husband got attached to them:D Problem being getting them to Alabama... |
I'm in northern IL..I honestly can't take in another baby right now, but if these poor babies are going to be euthanized I will try my best to talk to my fiance and see how we can help. Keep me posted if you need me. |
If we can just get them adopted, can we start a train? You know where each person drives so many miles to another checkpoint and get them to their new homes? I've said I would be willing to do that. I don't have money but I have weekends and could drive for like 1/2 day to get to the next checkpoint. And maybe, if people could donate what they can to help collect money to get them out? I mean, I am not rich AT ALL, but I can put in a little money.... |

I'm trying to talk to my fiance right now to see if theres any way we can help out, I showed him the yorkies, then told him their all in a kill shelter. He asked if they are free and I said their $200..he didn't say anything, then thinks I'm BSing! That they are just yorkies for sale! Ugh...I gotta show him more info, I told him theres a post on here....I'm really hoping we can help out in some way. |

Ok I called and she is gone already:mad: Her name is Latisha and she won't answer the phones until Monday. 417-646-8421 I will call again on Monday. |
I will be out of town from the 16th to the 25th but if we can do something before them I'm in. |
I'm sure the rescue I help will take on if I foster and if they won't I will still foster one. I prefer a girl and one that is more submissive as I have an alfpha in the house. She's not used to a strange adult coming in and I'm not sure how she'll do. Does great with puppies just unsure of other adult dogs and will tend to be very alpha with them, so if there is a submissive type in the group I'll gladly foster her. I live in NJ. Elaine |
I kind of feel sorry for the Havenese too. They are like white yorkies. If whoever is calling asks about them too - I can check with my rescue and see if we can pull them as well. Elaine |
I can't take on anymore but would be willing to donate money and possibly driving. |
bumping.... |
Bumping... hope someone will take them home!!! Poor little one just want to be love... |
Yorkie Rescue in MO I live in Waverly WV and am 13 hrs away, but I will make the drive if the shelter will release the dogs to a rescue. Anyone interested in rescue can contact yorkierescuetransport@yahoogroups.com. They send you alerts and try to put together transport to foster and forever homes. If anyone else can help, or has any info please post asap. |
Someone just posted that these dogs will be put to sleep this Tuesday if homes are not found. I contacted Burlington Animal Rescue to see if they can help out. I will foster atleast one. Anyone else here willing to help? Elaine |
