I got my Tika from the Pennington County Humane Society in Thief River Falls, Minnesota and would highly recommend them! To thank them for my Tika I took the time to volunteer to design them a website at www.pchumanesociety.com.

| Hi, I just started reading this thread and wanted to add the link to the wonderful rescue I got my Sammy from: YorkieRescueMe.com (PA/NJ/DC area). I've only ever adopted pets in the past from no-kill shelters and have had good experiences. Sammy is the first Yorkie I've ever owned and the ladies at Yorkie RescueMe.com were very helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. They were very thorough about matching Sammy and I up -- taking into consideration his personality and mine, my home environment, etc. -- and while I don't have children, I do know that they will adopt out a Yorkie to a home with kids if it is the right/safe fit for the Yorkie. Someone earlier in this thread (sorry, but I can't remember who off-hand) said something that struck me as important: Something to the effect that rescues are in the business of making their Yorkies happy, not families happy. I totally agree with this! There are a lot of people out there who THINK they're responsible and can offer a Yorkie a good home, but it's up to the people at rescues/shelters who know their Yorkies' personalities and quirks to assess if this really is the case since the innocent, unknowing Yorkies can't do that for themselves. ~Lara and Sammy |
