*Pet Flys Uncle Monkey mini* Is there anyone intersted in selling me their Pet Flys Uncle Monkey in the mini size? I'm hoping maybe someone had one and their little one grew out of it. I could purchase one new but thought I would check and see if I could pick up a barely used one first. |

Thanks, it turns out that one is the next size up but it is definitely a good starting price. It took me a couple of weeks to decide if I want a Baby Doe or an Uncle Monkey and I think I have settled on an Uncle Monkey. I'm planning on getting a mini as my little one is 3.4 lbs and done growing. I thought maybe someone here might have one sitting around that their fluff out grew. If not then I will order a new one. If I can't find an Uncle Monkey mini then I will get one of the Baby Doe minis that I have found. The Baby Doe is no longer being made but it is my understanding that new stock of Uncle Monkeys and others should be in stock the middle of September or so. I guess we'll see. Thanks so much for the ebay suggestion. I will keep and eye on ebay and see if a mini happens to come up. |

3 Attachment(s) Yes, they certainly are darling! Rotten of Pet Flys to have so many cute desigsn! Have you seen the two I have been considering? I have had a terrible time choosing. How ridiculous is that? I look at the photos and think gee maybe the other one . . . :questione My big plan was NOT to have a closet full of carriers but that is starting to appear unlikely. I like them both and darn it, what if Pet Flys comes out with a new design that's just as cute!!! :2omg: Thanks so much for the ebay suggestion. I really appreciate you taking the time to notice there was one on ebay. I will keep my eye on there. |

As far as I am aware the only fabric or sueded part on the Baby Doe carrier is the actual Baby Doe aplique. Do you have the mini or the small? How do you find it for hauling around? I toyed with the idea of the small as that would give Lu more stretch out room but she mostly sleeps curled up anyway so all that extra space may be a waste. Lu is all of 3.4 lbs, 8" at the shoulder and about 8" from nape of neck to base of tail. I thought I might get more use out of the mini as it is may be a bit more managable size for everyday? My thoughts were to use it as a safe place for her when we are out visiting rather than always being on someone's lap and as a bed away from home and maybe a snuggle spot at home. (She doesnt' have a shortage of snuggle spots, but still. . . ) I have a Sleepypod mini (pink) that she sleeps in during the day but it seems a bit confining with the top on because the only spot that is 9" high is the very center and it's only 11" across the interior. It's fine for some things like short trips but I thought that a touch more space and something a bit more more solid on top might be a good idea in some circumstances such as when kids are involved. Lu does fine with kids but it might be nice to have a solid carrier that can handle being bumped accidentally. I have not seen either carrier in person and have wondered which would look nicer. I have worried that the tone of the Baby Doe might be too red or the tooling might be to busy looking? I like the tones of the Uncle Monkey and the leopard print. (Man I'm decisive!) Both are adorable! It sort of seemed to me that the Baby Doe was maybe a bit more "cute" and the Uncle Monkey might be a bit more "classic" in flavor? Does that makes any sense? Good grief I really don't want to end up wit both of them, although I suppose there are worse things. Hmmm, I hadn't considered the sueded part on the Uncle Monkey getting dirty. Have you had an issue with that or are you just trying to avoid finding out? Oh my goodness it is nice to talk to someone who has some practical experience with these and has more than one. Sorry for rambling. |
Hmmm. . . I posted a reply but got a message that it wouldn't be posted until seen by a moderator? I don't think I said anything objectionable. Have I broken a rule that I'm not aware of? I'm not exactly familiar with the whole forum thing so if I've done or said something I shouldn't I do appologize. |

Oh that makes sense about me being a newbie. One of the administrators broke both wrists? That can't be any fun! As far as my post is concerned it wasn't a big deal. I just asked your opinion on the appearance of the two carriers, which one you like the look of best, what size of carrier you have and if you find it clunky etc. I was toying with the idea of the small but Lu is only 3.4 lbs and a mini will be fine I'm sure. I bit the bullet though and ordered the Baby Doe mini about a minute ago. I found it for $85 new and couldn't pass it up. Ahhhh!!! I'm freaking out, I'm absolutely terrible about making decisons as I never want to make the wrong one. You would think this was a life decision, it's just a carrier for goodness sake! It's going to take forever to get here as I live in Canada and anything that has to cross the border takes a ridiculously long time. I may die of anticipation in the mean time! |

i love it!!! both the monkey and the deer :) i think for me if i had a boy i would pick the monkey and if i had a girl i would pick the deer. but they are both really nice and could be used for either boy or girl, thats just me :) |

Hehe, I like the way you think. I tried that line of reasoning but by the time I'm done (does that actually every happen?) I'll probably end up with both. They are both so dang cute! |

Oh, I see your previous post finally posted, and I just want to tell you suede is not that hard to keep clean, a suede brush, which is just a wire brush, is usually all you would need for large areas, and for small areas a pencil eraser is all you would need. You don't want to use water to clean suede, and oil also will stain, so spots should be cleaned with a pencil eraser. |
No Problem. Buster is a Porkie right now at 9 pounds we are on a diet to get him back to 6 pounds. He uses the small I looked into the medium but it was so big I figured he would slide all over. The small fits under the airline seats of most carriers. I did have to turn it on it's side for Southwest Airlines as they have a really low clearance. It is really sturdy for the most part which I really liked as I did not want Buster to get banged around which I worry about with the softer sided carriers. The top did get crushed down but that was because I was using it as a platform to rest Buster on during car trips when I was the passenger and I was also leaning on it which I did not realize. I am more careful with the top of the replacement. I use it even for running errands and visiting because you can zip the flap down they can look out but still be secure. I agree it is nice for them to have a place other than someone's lap while visiting. The carrier is a little clunky and heavy more so with Buster's extra weight, but that is what protects Buster which is my 1st priority. I have tried out many different carriers soft sided, pouches, etc and this is my favorite. I have washable piddle pads so I put one down on the bottom and the blanket over that for extra padding and leak protection. It really is Buster's safe place. He has a fur friend that gets a little rambunctious when they are playing tag/chase. He will get her to chase him and he will run to his carrier and jump in where she can't get him it is hilarious. If you go to my profile page you can see Buster in his red skull case on the far right top row. I saw you ordered the Baby Doe I went with the same thinking of Monkey's for Boys and Doe's for girls when I got Buster's. I had such a hard time deciding myself as I also liked the black & purple carrier with wings on it but stopped myself. I really like all of Pet Fly's carriers and I even use the new Puppy pouch Welcome To Pet Fly's - Trendy, Edgy, Airline approved pet carriers for traveling in style, comfort and safety on board a plane, train, automobile or just hanging out with you. but it is a little high/tall so Buster must hang over the side to lookout or it is right at his throat so I put pads in to boost him up. Whew I will stop my long post now!!! |
Well, I went from looking for a carrier to purchasing one in what. . . 24hrs? Actually I have been looking for a while but I didn't post here until yesterday. Now the wait is on! I'm hopeful our new Pet Flys carrier will be our favourite too. Lu is 1 1/2 years old but I have only had her for about 4 months. She came with a black Sherpa Classic carrier, I purchased a Sleepypod Mini in pink (found it for $40 and it is adorable), just got her a size 2 Buddy Belt and leash set in the Mandarin color, just ordered the Pet Flys Baby Doe in the mini size and I'm already looking to see what else I can pick up for her. Oh this is not good, not good at all! I knew when I got Lu that she would be spoiled. I have considered her my midlife crisis, empty nest baby, but this could very quickly spiral out of control! She's so darn cute and I don't have anyone else at my house to spoil. Well that's not entirely the case, Zoe and Kai get pretty spoiled too. I am waiting on a Buddy Belt set for Zoe to arrive. Zoe and Kai do get spoiled but it’s not quite the same, they don’t need carriers or special this or that. |
2 Attachment(s) I think the mini is the perfect size for your little one. :) I think the smallest carrier your dog comfortably fits in is usually the best idea. I will say I have giant beasts (10 and 12 lbs), and we have the size medium Uncle Monkey. It had to be turned onto its side to fit under airplane seats, which I hated. My absolute favorite bag for air travel now is the size medium Sherpas. Go figure it's the cheapest and lightest weight of all their carriers too. The weight of the carrier is probably more noticeable when your pups are much heavier like mine are. Since you are getting the mini, I don't think you'll have the issues with seat clearance on airplanes though. Here is a picture of Lane, 10 lbs, in the size medium Uncle Monkey. Attachment 352340 Just for fun...can you spy Rory's nose? She was wondering what the hold up was waiting to go through security. :p Attachment 352341 |
LOL loved the little nose poking through. She looks adorable and like a Princess in her carrier. |

Oh man, I love the nose poking out! Too cute! Hmmm a 12 step program for shopping adiction is starting to sound about right. I'm a sucker for harnesses, collars and beds etc. but pretty cautious with the clothing items. I can only go so frufru or members of my family would completely freak! (Husband and family are died in the wool cowboys. Real cowboys not the sparkly flashy stuff you see in some western stores.) Lu does have some cute stuff and has to have sweaters, hoodies and jackets because she just simply gets cold easily but I do try not to completely over frill her. I try to walk a ballance of cute without going over the top. A rather tricky line with a tiny little female. |
We have the mini Monkey and Keegan who is 3.3 lbs fits in it just perfect! It is super cute and gets rave reviews whenever we use it :) Everyone loves it :) I have a Small paw one that is by far not as cute and it is a bit large for him. We are a multi size furfamily :) |

That is good to know. After reading and asking questions and measuring different things at least a million times I was relatively confident that the mini was the right way to go but I am happy to hear from someone with a little one that is the same size and how the mini fits your dog. I have an overnight bag that is the same dimensions as the small Pet Flys and I put poor Lu in there several times when I was questioning sizes. She mostly curls up when she sleeps and so the extra space of the small seemed pretty huge. I had considered the possibility of the small because I wondered about stretch out room but I think the mini will still provide enough of that as well. Poor Lu, I found a box about the size of a mini and put a blanket in there and tried her in there several times too. She’s so patient! Hopefully all the fuss will turn out to be worth it and she will love her new carrier. It definitely seems like some of the designs are maybe a little nicer than others but I suppose it is a matter of one's taste and so they have different ones to try to cover several bases. I just ordered the Baby Doe but I suspect there might still be an Uncle Monkey mini in my future. Both designs are so cute and I had a terrible time trying to decide which one I wanted to order. The decider ended up being my lack of patience and not wanting to wait for an Uncle Monkey mini to get back in stock and the fact that I found a Baby Doe mini for a crazy good price. I’m so excited for my new carrier to come! It’s going to be a loooong wait! |
Ok, ummm question. Why is the part of my message above that says "small pet" in green and a link? Not a big deal, just curious as I didn't do anything other than just write a message, so I wondered how the link thing got there. |

No the link thing isn't there anymore. I noticed it on someone else's post too but that link is gone now as well. At first when I saw it on the other person's post I thought maybe they had intentionally linked to something but then when I clicked it I just went back to a list of foums on here. I clicked mine too and it did the same thing. Kind of intereting for there to be random links like that and for them to disappear but they seem to be harmless enough and so I'm not concerned. Just wondered. |

Yay! . . . It"s here. . . It's here. . . It's here!!! :yay_jump: AHHHHH!!!!! I'm so excited! My husband called a little while ago and said the Pet Flys Baby Doe carrier came in today! I can hardly wait until he gets home so I can see it and try Lu in her new carrier! :yay_jump: |
