| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | May I ask why someone is paying money for these Desktop pictures ? Honestly ....I could do one of those in less than 3 minutes and would hate to see anyone taken advantage here.... Sorry - but I just HAD to say that. I look at Vals Avatars and also...how many I've done for the last 2 years on 2 different sites ....and I have never charged money - Val's made over 500 Avatars and I've made close to that myself.... It takes way longer to make an Avatar than it does to add bubble captions on a picture...ANYONE can do this on their computer.... |

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | edited to add....I take it back - I did make 25.00 from a very nice yt member who donated to the site in my name ....for 500-600 hours of work - I considered that really nice..... (thank you Mustangbee) and I was very surprised.... but to outright charge someone for something this easy seems wrong.... |

I'm not trying to be mean - just a heads up to everyone...I could make a desktop pic far faster than an avatar.

| You are so wrong! I take a normal photo of someone's dog, then I think of an idea, and I find some other people to put on there with them, I will include the photos I used. I have Paint Shop Pro, and when I first started doing them for myself it took about 6 hours each time, now it takes about 45-60 minutes. These backgrounds are so much work, people just don't realize. After I paste all of the figures on the background I add captions, etc... I also know for a fact that some people do charge for their avatars, they told me so. It is someone's right to charge for their hard work, and if they don't want to charge, that's also fine. By the way, only 3 that I've posted weren't free, all the rest were. |

It might take you a long time bc of your lack of experience but Villette was offering to do them in 3 minutes bc she is able to do that- and she uses the same program. I have photoshop and with that it is really easy to manipulate images. I can also take 3 images and make them into a desktop background. Any jpeg. can be a background by right clicking it and pressing use as background. In fact, you are stealing images from vendors that you dont have permission to take them from- such a Poochie of Beverly Hills, you jacked their Dog Chaise lounge in the picture you did for sweetpea. I guess there's nothing wrong with charging money for cutting out backgrounds and putting a bunch of images together if someone is willing to pay for it- BUT you should pay for the images you are using and ask for rights to those images. Just because you are using them for non-business reasons doesnt mean they arent copyrighted. People spend a fortune getting photographers to take professional pictures of their products. As for the backgrounds that you are using- are those not your original work also? Whether you are getting the backgrounds from google images or your windows desktop feature- copyright laws require you to NOT charge for unoriginal work that is re-produced, even if it is manipulated. The point isnt that it takes you a long time, Im sure people appreciate it, but I think its nuts to charge someone for it, especially when the images you are using arent yours to use.

| Those backgrounds you speak of where I used copyrighted images, where free to people! The ones I charged for were mine. You guys aren't going to believe anything I say, so why am I even bothering saying it? I really don't want to fight anymore. Let's agree to disagree. Go find someone else to pick on, because I'm not going to reply to any negative comments from now on, so don't waste your time posting. |

| nobody is picking on you. Let me just tell you that I think its great that you have a talent for websites and are trying to be in business. Girl- I was a young entrepenuear myself AND I have been working in my dad's 30 year business since I was 5, but I did have different business practices and I was successful because I took it seriously. I am not saying that you arent taking it seriously, but being in business and taking people's money is a very serious thing and the problem with the pet industry is that many vendors were dropshipping for online sites to be able to maintain a good business and it lead to many people in the industry just putting a bunch of images on a website without having to keep a stock, leading wholesalers to believe they werent serious. You cant expect ppl to make an investment in your product if you cant make the investment yourself. And, I think what scares people is that they are paying for something that you are depending on someone else to send them and they arent sure you have established a relationship with the person who is supposed to send their product. I hope you arent discouraged about being in business yourself, if you do it the right way it can be very rewarding. It's just virtually impossible to make investments in a business when you are still a dependent. And this image is not available free for the public: http://www.poochieofbeverlyhills.com/collection2.html |
