| Question About Collars? Ever since I told my bf I wanted a yorkie or a small dog in general. He's been voicing his concerns about tripping over it Is there any type of dog collar that I can purchase that has a bell or something on it. I know that cat collars have bells but would I be able to hear my dog moving around with that on? Thanks in Advance for the help

| Don't put a collar on your yorkie, use a harness, I suppose you can attach a bell to it, it might help. You need to learn to do the yorkie shuffle. |

| I agree with Jeanie. Put a harness ont he little tyke and attach a bell to the harness "d" ring. I used to think that the "break-away" cat type collars were safe for yorkies, but they aren't. Good luck! |

How come the cat break away collars arent safe? I guess one would be because they are made for a cat "duh" But lets say my dog were to get out how would people know that hes mine without a collar not saying that they wouldnt take it off and pretend that hes theres.

| Go to an arts and craft store. They sell those small bells that look like a cow bell and they are louder than those little round ones that are on cat collars, and they are very light weight. Also, just tell your boyfriend he's going to have to learn the Yorkie shuffle. |

I make collars and harnesses. I had planned to offer a "safe" collar with a break away buckle that would be safe to be worn all the time with the little ones for bells and/or identification. I ordered a hefty supply of "quick release" buckles and when they arrived I found that they took WAY too much pulling and tugging for them to release. I believe that a small breed puppy or adult would strangle before they could exert enough pressure on the buckle to make it release. | |
