detangler recommendations??? - YorkieTalk.com Forums

I'm looking for a good detangler for Max and Abbie. They both have silky coats but Max's hair is much thinner than Abbie's so he tends to look a bit greasy more quickly. There are so many products out there but I don't know what's good. I've been using 8 in 1 detangler from PetsMart but I'm not crazy about it. Anyone have any suggestions?

I like THE STUFF for dogs.. that is what Haruka's Groomer uses...

Cowboy Magic detangler works great. Use a very tiny bit!

I was thinking about trying cowboy magic but there were mixed reviews...some said that it was great but others said that it made their yorkie's hair greasy. Is it good for silky coats or better for cottony coats?

it's quite greasy. I like the CM on Chanel but not Cheri who is silky

a really good detangler a groomer turned me onto is Johnsons No more Tangles for real babies...it leaves the coat super soft and you don't have to wash it out - and NO itchies - it's for babies so very gentle

I used Cowboy Magic this morning for the first time, and most of Bailey's matts came right out (while I was out of town my son had to give her a bath and she would not let him brush her out)
This is the first time she has been this matted so I thought I'd give CBM a try. Bailey has a cottony coat and I had to use alot to get the matts out. There are a few under her front legs I will work on tommorow. I'll see how she looks tommorow, greasy or not? she probley will look greasy with all that I had to use....

I'll try it. Max and Abbie haven't been allergic to any of the products that I've tried so far but is it ok to use daily since it's not for dogs?

I like this stuff.
I think it works better then Cowboy magic.
But its kinda hard to work with.

BIO-Groom
Super cream Coat concentrate

It has to be diluted, cream in hot water then applied.
If you use it as a deep conditioner it is really greasy for the first few days but it protects the coat, then it doesnt look greasy, it separates the hairs and tangles dont hapen as fast. Makes the hair alot more managable for a long time.
It is certainly worth a try.

Paul Mitchel makes a great line of hair products for pets. I LOVE the stuff. I use the John Paul detangler. It's a daily conditioner. It smells geat and works well. Elaine

I use CM and love it. The key to not having the 'greasy look' is to use a small amt. and rub it into your hands first and a little at a time starting with your fingertips put it on them. Not getting too much in one place. I don't use it on Bella's head either. I concentrate the most on her lower back.
It also smells great. Use mix some with water in a squirt bottle and between baths spray her and brush her (I stole that idea from someone on Yt

Im not knocking Cowboy magic.
I just liked this stuff alot better for tangles on dogs.

Horse hair is different then dog hair.

It's funny because my daughter has used CM on her two horses for years, so when I saw people writing about it on here I thought it couldn't hurt to try. At first I really greased her up...then I learned to tone it down. I also conditioner her with my conditioner (3minute miracle). I know I'm willing to try anything that makes it easier on Bella

I love CM!!! I find that it didn't leave my dogs greasy at all. Although I can see if someone used to much it might. I also condition my dogs with my 3min. conditioner. I also tried the hot oil treatment, that someone was talking about on here, today. It worked very well too.

I second this...Diamond has a silky coat and the J&J works great on her, it's very gentle
