| Personally, I like to use the meds that have been around for a while. We use Heartgard and Frontline Plus.

| I have to agree with the comments about Trifexis. If you run a google search, the majority of reviews are negative and come from people whose dogs have died or suffered illness from it. Just because it is expensive does not make it good. It's important to protect against heartworm, but if say you have the choice between taking Advil that has been around for a long time..or a brand new brand that people have died from.. what would you take for yourself? Heartgard and sentinel are much safer alternatives that have been around for a very long time. However, at the end of the day, it's your choice and I'm sure you have the best interest of your maltese at heart.

| Hannah Nicole and Lola (my Aug. 2013 rescue) are on ComboGuard. I haven't heard anything negative about this one. They all scare me but so does heartworms. I use 2 different vets for my dogs and 1 of them prefers Trifexis. Some of my dogs are on it but I am changing them over to something else when they are due for another heartworm check. I prefer the pill over the topical so that I can bath my dogs when needed. Anyone know anything about ComboGuard?
