| outdoor kennel with a top? I let my babies outside today (on leashes) and a hawk was brave enough to fly right over my head to try and grab one! Im lucky my sheltie was out there and went crazy over the bird ( she loves to chase and try to catch birds) because I didnt even notice it until she saw it! Im looking for an outdoor kennel with a top to it for the yorkies so I dont have to take them out in the yard on their leashes and they can be safe running in the yard. Does anyone have any recommendations? Last edited by Cha0t1c; 03-30-2013 at 06:44 AM. |

| I'm so glad your babies are ok! I deal with hawks and owls daily. Which kennel are you going to get? (size, I mean)

| we ordered the 8x24 with two extra canvas tops so they have room to run around Its going to take up alot of my yard lol ( I have two acres) But its worth it. I think im going to put a puppy pool in it because my younger male is obsessed with water lol |

| Do you mind me asking how much that all ended up totalling? I am not convinced that I want to section Mandie off from being able to run the whole yard with her brother, but I have seriously been considering one of these.

| I do believe they ended up paying between 2-2,500. It seems like a lot I know, but its worth it instead of seeing your baby carried off by a hawk My mom added a bunch of extras like the rotating water bowl and a specific floor and we also purchased two extra canvas tops. You can always add them up to your preferences on the website. I Like these kennels Much better then the ones I found online because the other ones seemed cheap and not as durable. The best part with these is it has a dig proof thing at the bottom of the cage so they cant dig under it as well as the easy put together. Ill post pics when it comes in. |

| Ours is also big enough for 4 yorkies and my sheltie to be in together. My sheltie dosent leave the yard if we are out there but she also will chase another dog or go after a loud car. |

| Actually, that price seems pretty decent for what you are getting. My big boy is a Sheltie mix (his "CKC" papers say sheltie but he's 70 lbs lol). He loves to run full force in our yard and Mandie's exercise everyday is to chase him. This is the only reason I haven't gone the roofed kennel route yet. Still considering it though..

| Ill let you know how it works out for us I think it will work out MUCH better for us lol walking 4 dogs on leashes is so aggravating ( getting leashes tangled, you getting tangled, dogs trying to choke themselves etc. ) |

| Ha! That must be a sight to see. I can't imagine walking 4 at one time. I'd be on the ground in no time, I'm sure lol

| I read the reviews on petsmart and they werent too good based off the run. Everyone commented on how cheeply made they were and how easily moved they were. Not to mention I have a digger, so Ide risk them getting loose and I live on a 55mph road as well as the Hawks finding them. I saw the one your talking about, I wasnt too impressed. |
