Default Deer antler treats - thoughts?

I am always on the look out of a 'natural' treat for Norman. He really likes to chew so it is important to find something that will last. I recently bought "naturally-shed sanitized" deer antler pieces. They come in different sizes depending on the size of your dog. Norman loves them and they last forever!
I've been wondering if anyone else has tried them or if anyone has any concerns about them?

Jackson did not really care for them when I tried them a while back.

I think the only thing you have to watch out for is a tooth breaking -- I think they are really hard, right?

Otherwise, super low in fat, might be even no fat at all... seems like a good chew bone to me.

I got the antlerz brand. Uni only liked it bc it was new. Once she tried chewing she realized how hard they were. I can imagine that being very satisfying. She tosses it around and it sounds like literally a rock. It doesn't have flavor so I wonder why some dogs like it.

Levi has had them in the past and would chew on them/play with them, but they were never his favorites. Like Brit said, they are SUPER hard and could probably break teeth, so I'd closely monitor your pup with them.

Callie is not a fan of them and she loves to chew on bones I also was very scared she was going to brake a tooth.

Our dogs LOVE them. I have no idea why. My DH is a hunter and he had a few sets for them to chew on. These are the only chews that I have found Cooper cannot destroy. We will keep these around from now on.

Jack & Josie liked the first ones I bought. The chewed on them till the antler got so small I threw them away. I ordered the next ones from bestbullysticks, they didn't seem to ike as much. I went back to the boutique shop I originally got them from and got a ffew more. They don't seem to like them as much as the original ones. When I mention that to the owner there she told me to put them in water and microwave 1-2 minutes it would bring the flavor back. I did that and they seem to chew on them again.
I still don't think they chew on them as much as the first ones.

Deer antlers are made of bone....

I won't let our dogs have them because I'm afraid they would think it's okay to chew on our mounts we have (we hunt and have several European mounts around)

Antlers are a bone, but harder than your typical bones. Deer use them to fight with and as a defense, so they have to be strong. They are not hallow and very solid. They are also inriched with calsium. squirrels and other wild animals love to chew on them for that reason. i really have been thinking of having my husband cut some down for maddie, since we have alot of them from his hunts or ones we find naturally shed by the deer.

I bought deer antlers a couple of times. My dogs liked them for a short time and then ignored them. I later was strongly advised by a board certified veterinary dentist not to give any treat or chew that I could not indent with my fingernail and to especially avoid any very hard bones or calcified things like hooves, etc. as they are tooth crackers.

I bought a deer antler and an elk antler for Riley.... He doesn't seem to care for them.... although he will only occasionally chew on the elk antler.

That made me laugh, not because it would be funny at all. But after Ernie had enjoyed one of his first antlers for a while and we had to get rid of it, he spotted the ones on my husband's mount. He stood for a long time just staring at it as if he was making a plan for how to get those things down.
