YT Addict | Beautiful Eyes I have 2 yorkie babies, one is the standard color and one is solid white. Both of them have the brown streaks around their eyes which is very noticable, expecially on the white one. Is there something out there that I can use to help get rid of this?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Are you talking about tear stains or pigment? The yorkie eye is suppose to have black pigment around it almost like eyeliner. If your talking about tear stains, there are many reason that dog's eyes tear, from food allergies, to teething to genetics. This link has some good information on the causes of excessive tearing and how to treat the stains. Tear Staining: The Causes & Cures I've never heard of an all white Yorkie either, is it registered with the AKC? White dogs, such as the Maltese, do have more problems with staining.

| When the area around the eyes stays moist due to excessive tearing, red yeast bacteria start to develop into the staining you see. The causes of excessive tearing can be many and varied, including but not limited to genetics, health, diet, fleas, bacterial infection, ear infections, cutting teeth (in puppies), irritation, high mineral content in the dog's drinking water, blocked tear ducts, etc. Keeping the eye area wiped clean daily will help and you might even consider having your dog's groomer carefully shave the area so as to prevent excessive red yeast bacteria build-up. Also Many common dog food ingredients can cause staining in some dogs. What are you feeding? Your water can be the problem, too. Eyes weeping is mainly caused by lack of good nutrition, but there could be another reason. Putting your dog on a premium food most of the times helps with this. Also you could give them ONLY Distilled water to drink...I've heard that really helps! Good luck!

Sure, if I can figure out how.......she is AKC registered as a Golden, but she is totally white. We get comments all the time on our walks about her color.
